Feb. 27th, 2012 11:47 amSO FAR TODAY IS BALLS AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY.
IE updated without my say-so; I still had it on 8 because I've seen 9 and knew that I wasn't going to like it, and now it's on 9 and agh agh agh, why is everything aligned right (except for the things that used to be and are now aligned left!) and why don't the tabs have their own toolbar or whatever it's called and agh. I've been experimenting with Chrome, but one of my problems with Chrome is the same as my problem with Firefox: BUT MY KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS. *shakes fist* Damn you, IE! I had you just the way I liked you!
So last week the cover fell off the overhead light in my room, which, balls, but whatever, I servicewaved it and today while I was in class they came and fixed it! Except for how now the light doesn't work. Have I mentioned I have no other light in my room? YEAH. I'm not sure if they finished or what because they didn't leave a note, but if I am scarce today, it's because I can't be in my room as I have NO LIGHT.
Also I am getting the plague.

Date: 2012-02-27 07:47 pm (UTC)I'm sorry today has been balls, that's really not acceptable. And neither is having zero light in your room. Can you call them or something? Cause you know human beings and how ridiculous they can be/leave things.

Date: 2012-02-27 08:31 pm (UTC)I can -- I'm not quite sure if it counts as emergency ServiceWave (yeah, that's what we call facilities services here), but I have no light and it happened after they supposedly fixed it, and have I mentioned the part where I have NO LIGHT? Does that count as an emergency?

Date: 2012-02-27 09:10 pm (UTC)Yeah... it does that now. However, you can get 8 back pretty simply and Microsoft still supports 8. (And if you uninstall 9, you will not upgrade back to 9 without telling it to.)
1) go to add-remove programs.
2) on the left there should be a link that says View installed updates. Click that.
3) Find IE9
4) Uninstall IE9.
If you want to mess with 9 a bit longer, you can add toolbars back by right clicking near the address bar and adding the ones you want back in.
(And I totally sympathize about the plague. It sucks. Also, hope you get light back soon!)

Date: 2012-02-27 09:18 pm (UTC)The plague! My least favorite thing! Hopefully it is just a throat irritation that will go away soon, but I am not optimistic on this count.

Date: 2012-02-27 09:55 pm (UTC)On the other hand, yay IE9 :) (go google the html5 fishbowl, it's pretty!)
(Back in school I was always lucky to get the plague over/near breaks, so i could be nonfunctional for a week or so while not having to worry much about school work. This does not work as well with a full time job, however. yay tea and close-able office doors?)

Date: 2012-02-27 11:13 pm (UTC)That being said, as someone that builds websites for a living, I loathe all versions of IE. All the web folks use Firefox, Chrome and/or Safari. But I understand what you mean about shortcut; you can't let it go when you know all the tips and tricks to get what you need done. :-)

Date: 2012-02-28 01:09 am (UTC)I've been trying to wean myself onto Firefox by using it on the school computers, but my shortcuts! (The one that really gets me is that ctrl+i doesn't get me italics on that one, argh.) I've been trying to get used to Chrome, but...*shrug*

Date: 2012-02-28 01:15 am (UTC)Yay tea. I could close my door! ...if I could work in my room. (No. My light has still not been fixed.)
