So I need to apply for housing at Leicester (I don't want to deal with trying to arrange private housing, so university housing it is! Or accommodation, I guess, is what they say in the U.K.), and I'm trying to decide how bad it will be to have a common kitchen as opposed to a shared kitchen in a flat. I had one year of almost homicide-inducing experience living in a shared apartment during undergrad, and the other year was with the same people I'd lived with more or less since I was a freshman at Tulane. I mean, all the flats may be full, so this might be a moot point, but would this be an OH GOD RAGE experience or not? (OTOH, looks like common kitchens also have common pots and pans, so I wouldn't have to buy my own, since hell if I'm shipping my stuff over from the U.S.)
Also shared bathroom facilities, but really, the kitchen is of more concern to me. Fortunately it looks like under no circumstances would I ever have a roommate. Though I can't figure out if it's legal in uni housing to have a minifridge + microwave in one's bedroom. IDK, why didn't I apply in the U.S. so I didn't have to deal with this foreign stuff? OH RIGHT I HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.
This post also brought to you by me going "what the hell is a hob?" and having to google. So a burner, basically?
