I would, at this point, actually be really happy to write Star Wars tie-in novels featuring complete and total OCs because I'm pretty sure I could do it better than some of the morons who got published.
(Hell, I could easily stretch my 30K Star Wars AU fanfic into a 150K novel if I wanted to, and it would still be a better story, despite the fact that I literally made the plot up as I went and didn't use a beta.)
