I am very hopeful that Rebels will pick up once it's had time to get its groove, because the people working on it are some of the only people I trust in Lucasfilm right now, since they did Clone Wars so excellently. (Honestly, Dave Filoni speaks and I just kind of want to claw my own face off, because I've never seen a showrunner who's so much of a genuine, thoughtful fan of the source material and it's pretty clear he's thought about a lot of the same things that fandom has; the only difference is that he's actually been able to ask George Lucas the questions.)
I think about sad Jedi probably a little too much, but...yeah, thinking about Kanan in context of a guy who was a fourteen-year-old kid when his entire culture was destroyed and his people were murdered makes a lot of his behavior more understandable. (I mean, the same is true for Obi-Wan or Yoda, but to a different extent because their situations were very different from Kanan's.)
