...and now chatting with [livejournal.com profile] ineptshieldmaid and [livejournal.com profile] realpestilence about Edwina has confused my characterization brain beyond all belief.

It wouldn't be as much of a problem if I hadn't been endgame on Dust 2, which is from Edmund's POV.

I'm just...going to walk away from the computer for a bit until I remember who my characters are.

and now I *really* have to write my paper

I fucked up is Edwina's first thought when she sees Peter. There's blood spattered across his clothes, dying the rich brown fabric red, and more of it smeared in his face and hair, tracks cut through it where he's tried to wash up. The sword on his belt isn't Rhindon -- shouldn't be, since Rhindon is hanging on the wall in his quarters.

She takes a step forward, descending the stairs slowly, but Peter is shouldering past the members of his court, walking past Susan when she tries to grab his sleeve, her eyes wide. He comes up the stairs to her as Edwina freezes, then catches her face between his hands and kisses her hard, teeth cutting into her lip. She tastes blood on his mouth.

"Pete," she says, turning her face away. "Peter."

"Come on," he tells her, taking her hand in his gloved one. He pulls her up the stairs without looking back and Edwina follows.

She'd been in her quarters when she'd heard the horns, the balcony doors open to let in light and the warm breeze. There are voices in the courtyard below, the regular palace gossip turned anxiously towards whatever has happened to the High King?, and her bed is unmade, papers scattered across it and the second volume of Durham's An Annotated History of Archenland turned spine-up. Peter lays her down on it without seeming to notice, mouth sharp with desperation as he kisses her, his gloved hands leaving rust stains of dried blood on her dress.

Edwina knocks the Durham off the bed and hears paper crinkle beneath her, reaching for Peter's belt as his swordhilt digs into her hip. He catches her wrists with one hand and holds them aside, pushing her skirts up with his free hand, then gets his trousers down, the laces snapping when he jerks at them impatiently.

"Peter," Edwina gasps when he pushes into her. She wraps one leg around his waist, digging her heel into the small of his back, and braces her other foot on the bed, slipping on the unmade sheets. Peter hasn't even taken his boots off; she's barefoot.

He's rough with need and she meets him thrust for thrust, arching up against him and biting down on the scream she can feel building up in her throat. The balcony doors --

She bites through her lip and Peter kisses her again; Edwina tastes her blood on his tongue. "Please," she says, "please, Peter --"

His rhythm is starting to grow erratic, his face flushed and a little distant, and she wants her hands free so she can touch him, let him know that she's here and he's not alone in his own head. "Peter," she says again, her own keen of sharp desire an edge of desperation in her voice, and Peter comes with a shout muffled against her bare shoulder, mouth dry and a little chapped against her skin.

She's still tight with need, itching at being so close when he slides free, and Peter strips one glove off with his teeth and runs his thumb across the rise of her breasts above her bodice, down the front of her dress, touch achingly light and distant through the fabric of her gown, before he touches her clit. He kisses her in counterpoint to the strokes of his fingers and Edwina comes gasping into his mouth, Peter's face blurring above her as her vision whites out.

I shall take that as a compliment. *grin* Never thought I'd see the day when I was the one corrupting people...

Oh it's a compliment alright! And you've corruptet me on so many levels when it comes to Narnia. When I read things on ff.net I keep catching myself in my newly found cynic view on Aslan. Damn you woman! I was very happy in my fairytale bubblegum Narnia! *Grin*

Ah, FF.net, the Pit of Voles. (I...don't remember which fandom that nickname came out of. HP, maybe?)

But this is so much more fun than fairytale bubblegum Narnia! And if the Pevensies had ruled fairytale bubblegum Narnia they would have been so screwed in PC. (There is, uh, a very good reason I only read about two or three other Narnia authors.)

But I always think that the CS Lewis section is quite better then all the other archives on there. At least, that was before PC came out. Then we got attacked.

Oh it is! So much fun. I'm enjoying myself so much!

*I've* always called ff.net 'The Pit of Reeking Evil', myself. :)

Ok, clearly I am a failure as a porn consumer: I want to know what HAPPENED TO HIM? and why did Edwina think she'd fucked up???

Here (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/304539.html?thread=2189723#t2189723), and it's a reaction to what [livejournal.com profile] realpestilence taunted me with in the main part of the comments, when I was trying to finish up Dust 2. And then I procrastinated my paper by writing this. *cough*

Well, Edwina's supposed to know about all assassination attempts preferably sometime before they happen and nearly kill her brother...

Huh. AWESOME.

Also, did the entire palace just see the High King drag off his sister for the ravagin'? Or did it look like he was going to give her a Royal Reprimand?

Pretty much, yeah. I hope they weren't trying to keep THAT a secret, because that clearly would have ended badly.

Huh, I wonder how this Peter is different than my Warsverse Peter?

He's not crazy, for one thing. He seems older, maybe? Like they had the chance to grow up some, *not* at war, before shit hit the fan?

I'm thinking where this bit fits in for the, uh, half of a plot I have. (Did you see my post about how Lucy was the traitor and is still with the White Witch? Yes.)

They've been on the throne for about five years at this point, but it's in a Narnia divided; they've been fighting a long-term war against the White Witch, who's fled up into the north, possibly to Ettinsmoor and Harfang...

Okay, wait, maybe not divided so much. This is the first in-Narnia AU I've written that doesn't use Warsverse background (Petaverse does). So -- Peter has been ruling for five years, but Narnia's not falling apart the way Warsverse Narnia is, if that makes sense at all.

But *was* it an assassination attempt? Or merely random brigands, which could happen to anyone and make you just as dead? She might feel like it's her fault, but, other than keeping the criminal element down (which is *all* of their jobs), it wouldn't have been...she can still feel bad, though.

I don't think Peter blamed her too much, or he might have yelled a few things before or during the frantic sex. :)

I'm reading Dust...trying to *get* there, past all these distractions...

Well, given the fact that prospective assassin did kill himself, and they knew to strike when the High King wasn't fully armed, and what kind of idiot brigands go after a hunting pary anyway...I'm betting assassins. Actually, I'm betting it was a play by the White Witch, but that's just me.

Peter didn't even think of blaming her; I think our girl Edwina has a bit of a guilt complex...

Yeah, well, I'm trying to study! So there. (WHY MUST I HAVE A MIDTERM TOMORROW? NO NO NO.)
