GUYS. WE HAVE POWER.

1 million other people in the Pacific Northwest do not. 17,000 people in the Kittitas Valley do not. Holy cow, I got home just in time; the power was out from right after I went to school to about an hour before I got home. Yes, and my school was, like, the only one in Washington not operating under either a delay or a cancellation (okay, slight exaggeration, but not by all that much). All the public schools in Seattle are out. Just about every other school in Kittitas County was out. Puyullap has been out for five days. They cancelled the basketball game tonight, along with all practices. The stores are pretty much empty except for the people stacking boxes of bottled water into their carts.

I need to write an essay before the power goes out again. They're saying it may last multiple days.

...but we have power! For now.

So totally going to college somewhere warm. Although I've Boston has this problem too.

We generally don't have outages lasting days, although we have had school cancelled for up to a week.

Neither do we! I've gotten very used to nice, mild winters -- the last bad one was '97, I think, the snow was up to, like, the roof, and then it all melted. The town flooded. *nods*

Meh, in Ellensburg they don't cancel school for anything short of apocalypse. We barely even get delays.

Yeah, Boston usually gets your standard northeast winter -- a few big snow storms, some cancellations, usually power outages in suburban communities. Ice storms. Cold. Very cold in January, sometimes.

Salem State is like that. When all other districts & colleges are cancelled... *sigh*

That doesn't seem too bad. We usually get a lot of cold, some cancellations/delays based on road conditions more than adverse weather -- the last cancellation was my freshman year, I think; it gave us a four-day weekend, but the band still had to play the basketball game that night -- not much with the storms, though. This year is weird.

Even Central was cancelled, and they're out of session. *shakes head* And yet the high school soldiers on.
