Excellent, I have figured out the path of my career: I will be one of those radical archaeologists, you know, the ones that go around telling people about Atlantis and how the pyramids were actually landing pads for aliens, and thus have: no job, no career, no friends, and no academic standing. Excellent.

Okay, possibly not that radical, but definitely one of the wonky ones.

It is if you want an academic career. (although why the hell I want that is beyond me, but there's not really all that much you can do with the degrees I'm interested in getting)

With enough degrees, you can do whatever you want.

Plus I'm sure you can totally come up with really, truly plausible theories re: why the pyramids are, in fact, alien landing pads. It'd be entertaining.

Or I could write for Stargate. They've been there and done that. *nods*

You *should* write TV shows. It'd be goddamn sight (and sound, smell, taste and touch) better than most of what's on now.

See, I'd love to write TV shows, because you can do so much more with them than you can with movies, or even novels, sort of. Character building. Plot arcs. World building. Gah.

But see, I'm logical. And I have this thing against journalism.

Then go forth and spread your message to the ignorant peoples of the world. Maybe you'll get your own cult!

Perhaps the offerings should go in a therapy fund instead. Or a college fund.

Mmm, blood. Pretty temples.

Dude. All of us archaeologists are wonky. It's a requirement for the career.

Seriously though, if you are really really interested in archaeology, the best undergrad program you will find in America is at Mercyhurst College. We've got a hands on program that is the best in the country, and one of the few that actually offers a archaeology major, instead of just anthropology. We're totally cool like that. Other colleges call us in to tell them why their programs suck. Other colleges like, you know, Harvard.

Seriously. If you are truly interested, drop me a line. I can give you a crapload of information and sing the praises of Mercyhurst all the live long day.

Excellent. At least I qualify on that point.

Archaeology's one of those things I've been interested in for most of my life now, so it's kind of my default major (I'm tentatively looking at a double major in music and either anthro/archaeology or history right now). But it is something I am pretty interested in.

Mercyhurst. Where is that? East coast, west coast, midwest? For some reason I'm thinking Connecticut, but I'm not sure.

Erie, Pennsylvania. (I vote for the anthropology. But that's me.)

Okay, I'm curious now. Sing away; I've still got another eight months or so before I have to start filling out college apps. I'm always grateful to find somewhere new and interesting.
