...you know what's freaky? Finding out that one of those authors whose LJ you lurk on is the same author that wrote a story you really, really liked years ago.

*is still in shock* No, seriously, how did I never know this? How?

I find that if you lurk in different fandoms for long enough, sooner or later you'll run across writers you read years ago who've started writing for other fandoms. Sometimes it just takes a moment to put the pieces together.

One of these I am going to make a chart of the connections between the people on whose LJs I lurk. I mean, it's seriously weird, because here I am cheerfully buzzing along and then bam! Person from a completely different fandom.

My pet theory is that the six degrees of separation phenomenon is rife in fandom. I found Stellaluna's site first when I started reading CSI:NY fic. Through her LJ I discovered your work. Later I noticed that you're friends with Minisoo, whose work I came across when I was reading X-Men movieverse fic. I've got other examples, too. I suspect the HP fandom is largely to blame. :P

But see, I didn't find Min from HP, I found her from X-Men. And using her journal, found [livejournal.com profile] seperis, who wrote with [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock, who's friends with [livejournal.com profile] astolat and [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa and [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna, who I was originally linked to from [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's journal. And I later found [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa on [livejournal.com profile] fanmix, which was linked from [livejournal.com profile] driving_music, where [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl posted her fanmixes, who later friended [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess, who wrote an X-Men fic that [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo commented on, and was also linked to me by the same person that linked [livejournal.com profile] traveller. And [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo was also friends with [livejournal.com profile] cupiscent, who linked me to [livejournal.com profile] imadra_blue's journal, where [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa once commented. Or was it [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn's journal? Anyway, they're all connected. And [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl once wrote an H:tLJ fic with [livejournal.com profile] ltlj, who is also friends with [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock. And [livejournal.com profile] astolat linked to a comic on [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, which was originally linked by [livejournal.com profile] dracunculus, who linked to [livejournal.com profile] abundantlyclear, who was linked by [livejournal.com profile] dessert_first. I was also linked to [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily by [livejournal.com profile] stellaluna_, who was linked to me by [livejournal.com profile] mentalhygiene, but [livejournal.com profile] stellaluna_ was later read by [livejournal.com profile] geekwriter143 and [livejournal.com profile] iscaris, who I got into from HP fandom and was at some point friends with [livejournal.com profile] mistful and [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical. And then we get into the people I was linked to from FictionAlley back in the day and we're off LJ.

BUT. Um, that's even more complex than I thought, and I know I could find more connections if I went through and looked harder. That's...a lot of fandoms. HP, CSI:NY, CSI: Vegas, X-Men, comics in general, SGA, SG-1, Star Wars, Supernatural, Smallville, HtLJ, Buffy/Angel, LotR RPS...

Er. Now I sound like a stalker.
