Who's out of school right now? I'm out of school right now.

Who's officially a senior? Oh, yeah, baby.

Oh, God, now the college prep starts hardcore. Does anyone know anything about Williams College in Massachusetts (aside from the fact that their mascot is the Purple Cow)?

See if the college has a LJ community. Most of them do (Iowa did when I was there my first year, and I'm on the Ottawa one now, and they're both fantastic resources).

I'm curious because they sent me an application for an all-expenses paid three day visit this fall, but I don't want to apply for that if I'm not serious about the school. I'll check.

It can't hurt to do some research. Check the school site, check Wikipedia, and see if there's an LJ community for it. That should give you some good info.

You should sleep. And watch TV. And write fic. And read fic (HOLY CRAP THE spn_j2_bigbang FICS ARE GOING UP!). And enjoy the vacation.

I'm on the school website right now. It's not really hitting anything that I'm looking for in colleges -- too small, too liberal arts, too middle of nowhere. I don't know. It's not leaping out at me and crying "come here, come here!"

I should definitely write, yeah. And SLEEP. And watch TV, and movies, and...uh, stuff. And then fly to Providence via Chicago in two weeks.

Rice. In Houston. The water there isn't drinkable. Home to where they did the Twinkies Projects (http://www.twinkiesproject.com/). Very polluted city. Very very good school. Good English program. Good EVERYTHING program.

Yeah, Texas. Houston. Seriously, not the best location. A great school, but keep in mind that the city stinks and is very polluted, and the weather is terrible (100+ weather from about May to October, no joke).

But you do have to weigh that again a school that's tooted as the Ivy League of the South.

I've been by it before. It's in the northern berkshires -- and it's friggin' gorgeous out there, too -- it's got an art museum, and it's close to the MassMoCA (museum of contemporary art). My mom says it's sort of an almost-ivy-league (ie ivy league without actually being such in name) college and it's known as an excellent school generally.

Oh, good to know. Thank you! It's mostly not hitting any of what I'm looking for in schools, and I'm not exactly sure why -- okay, it may just be that their mascot is the Purple Cow, but Stanford's is a color, so.

Williams is one of a group of colleges that are sometimes known as the "little Ivies." The campus is lovely, but it is definitely in the middle of nowhere.
