Newport? Boring. Also, clearly the reason all my money is tied up in traveler's cheques is so I don't spend it, because I probably would have spent a heck of a lot more money if I'd had more than six dollars in cash. And by a heck of a lot more, I mean, spent money period.

Providence scares me -- like, I went down into the city today with a couple friends, and I was so paranoid it was actually pretty ridiculous. God, I'm such a country girl.

You have no idea.

*is not laughing* Ok, you might want to work up slowly to something like Boston, then. Or hell, just dive in.

I last used traveler's cheques to buy my books my first year in college. Definitely not for actual money. (all the travel I've done, it's been a combination of straight cash and whatever's in my bank account.)

I think I may have said something along the lines of, "Oh my God, if I ever move to the city I'm getting a concealed weapons permit and a handgun and a knife and Mace and a shotgun for my apartment and also a big German shephard. Oh my God," and then my friend from New York scared me and I slapped her. Um. Yeah. Should probably stick to the small college towns. At least then the shotgun blends in.

My mom made me bring them. I was going to break a couple of them down to cash tomorrow because we're going to the mall, and then I realized that tomorrow's Sunday and thus the banks are closed. ARGH. Maybe I'll buy something very small at the bookstore. (Also: Brown, you suck. Do you have size smalls in anything? The girls want to buy clothes too, you know.)

Oh my. :( :O We're not that bad. *hides copies of the local papers*. No, really, I promise. *halo* The trick, I guess, with the city is that you keep a nice dose of paranoia, but don't act paranoid -- just act like you belong there, and go about your business. But maybe I've just spent too much time in Downtown Crossing and on the subway.

In some supermarkets, banks are open on Sundays. According to the Internetz, there's a Citizens Bank at the Stop & Shop ... near the campus? (333 West River Road) open 11am-3pm on Sunday, and one at the Providence Place Mall open 12-4pm. :) (see? urban areas have good points.)

I should that it was also after dark, so the paranoia was probably slightly justified. Also, the campus police like to terrorize us by telling us about the guy who got mugged and then shot, and then the dorm that burned down or something. Yes. Still, cities freak me out a lot.

Oooh, the Providence Place Mall is where we're going. Sweet. Thank you!

Urban areas are also scary!

Paranoia is usually justified in a city. It's just not getting overwhelmed by it, is all. (of course, my idea of "safe" is slightly skewed from experience.)

the CP need to behave. No use terrorizing. Cautioning, yes. Can yours at least spell their "right to know" notices properly?

Excellent! The Urban Areas like you.

I am from the country! We don't usually have this kind of problem! We worry about coyotes eating our cats and running over deer and our dogs pissing off skunks! Not muggings.

Er. Maybe? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh God.
