bedlamsbardSome days I think I'm just writing a Jedi version of One Life to Ascend To.
I mean, come on, look at it: You have Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, with the dark tragic background, who's one of the few survivors of the Jedi Temple massacre. He has a weirdly incestuous relationship with Obi-Wan Kenobi, who he believes dead, and who drowned, but was brought back to life by his long-dead mentor, Qui-Gon Jinn. There's also the darkly evil Emperor Palpatine, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, and his apprentice, a former Jedi Master turned evil Sith Lord, Darth Cidal. And the lovely Padme Amidala, once queen of Naboo, who married Anakin in secret and is carrying his love child, which she has on board a starship on the way to Naboo following the takeover of Coruscant by the Sith and the formation of the Empire.
But, but! The only reason she left was because she was mindtricked by her husband, who made her think he's dead and that the only way to save her child was to abandon her duties as Senator of Naboo, so after an attack on her quarters on Coruscant, she leaves in the company of Obi-Wan, who, along with a couple of droids, is midwife to her twin children. He then mindwipes the hell out of the droids, and the security cameras, and Padme, takes the older kid, and takes off for Tatooine, the planet where his former, not-really-dead, apprentice grew up as a slave, so that the kid can be raised by Anakin's step-brother and his wife. Padme, griefstricken by the loss of her husband, goes back to Naboo and raises her daughter, and ends up marrying another guy. And Obi-Wan, after killing a bunch of people and going a little Dark Side, goes off and becomes an intergalactic space pirate.
But, wait, there's more! Ten years later Obi-Wan and Anakin are reunited, but Anakin pushes him away and makes a dramatic statement about no longer being a Jedi, but unfortunately they're soon reunited again, along with Quinlan Vos, whose tragic backstory hasn't yet been worked out, and then Anakin is reunited with his beloved wife, who thought he was dead and marrried another guy, but they have to work together because their daughter is missing! And then Anakin finds out about the other kid, who Obi-Wan has never told Padme about, and then, gasp, shock, horror!
...yeah. When I put it that way.... It's not really that bad, I swear!
