You know what I wish canon had given us? Obi-Wan going, at least a little bit, Dark Side for Anakin. You know. (I mean, I think the RotS novelization implied that Obi-Wan would go against all his Jedi principles for Anakin, but saying it is one thing and doing it is another. Plus, movie canon.)

It is probably not a coincidence that one of the earliest scenes in mind for "The Most Dangerous Man in the Galaxy" (should I ever get around to writing it *rolls eyes*) is the one where Obi-Wan pulls a lightsaber on Yoda when he sees Yoda. Or that the Clone Wars spy story has Obi-Wan going psycho on a couple Jedi when they threaten Anakin.

And, of course, it's, uh, practically canon that Anakin starts murdering people whenever someone he loves is hurt/threatened/killed. In movie canon, see: Sand People, Jedi Temple. If I'm not mistaken, there are a number of cases in the EU as well.

In other news: Supernatural. Shiny. In regards to "Bloodlust", I was wondering why Dean went so batshit crazy on Gordon. First thought is obviously, "Well, he's still screwed up over John's death," which is probably part of it, but you know what it is? It's where Gordon says he killed his sister when she was turned, and that Dean would do the same thing in the same situation. And the big reveal at the end of "Croatoan" hasn't come out yet, but that's it. That's Dean saying, no, he wouldn't, and it's ripping him apart.

Other thoughts: I love the scene at the beginning of "In My Time of Dying" where Sam has the Colt and turns it on the possessed truck driver. That's possibly my favorite scene in the whole ep, seconded by the one where Sam's watching Dean almost die -- you know, the one where he's got his face pressed against the doorframe and he looks like he's about to cry? That scene.

I like Ellen and Jo. (And yeah, I've seen the whole season except for "Roadkill" and "Heart", so I do, in fact, know what happens.) They're fun.

I read that line and my first thought was "Oh. OH. That would be hot." *hands head in shame*

Yes. Yes it would be. *nods firmly* (And hell, it practically is canon anyway. "He will stop at nothing to save me, for example, because he thinks I would do the same for him." Mace and Yoda gazed at him steadily, and Obi-Wan had to lower his head. "Because," he admitted reluctantly, "he knows I would do the same for him.")

Okay, my SW knowledge is, like, barely existing, but I want to read that SO BADLY. Shit. Wow. I mean, Obi-Wan/Anakin is totally hot as it is, but Obi-Wan turning Dark, just a bit, for Anakin? That's amazing.

Does it make it better or worse if I tell you that's an actual quote from the RotS novelization? (a.k.a. the slashiest semi-canon ever, oh my god. Like, it also includes these wonderful tidbits:

Anakin turned, and found within Obi-Wan's eyes a depth of feeling he had only rarely glimpsed in all their years together; and the pure uncomplicated love that rose up within him felt like a promise from the Force.

...

Obi-Wan Kenobi opened his eyes to find himself staring at what he strongly suspected was Anakin's butt.

It looked like Anakin's butt -- well, his pants, anyway -- though it was thoroughly impossible for Obi-Wan to be certain, since he had never before had occasion to examine Anakin's butt upside dow, which it currently appeared to be, nor from this rather uncomfortably close range.

And how he might have arrived at this angle and this range was entirely baffling.

...

"You love him too, don't you?"

When he didn't answer, she turned to look. He stood motionless, frowning, in the middle of the expanse of buff carpeting.

"You do. You love him."

He lowered his head. He looked very alone.

"Please do what you can to help him," he said, and left.

...

Blade to blade, they were identical. After thousands of hours in lightsaber sparring, they knew each other better than brothers, more intimately than lover; they were complementary halves of a single warrior.

...

The man he faced was everything Obi-Wan had devoted his life to destroying: Murderer. Traitor. Fallen Jedi. Lord of the Sith. And here, and now, despite it all...

Obi-Wan still loved him.

And I realize the RotS novelization, which is basically the tragic and epic love story of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi -- I have read slash less slashy than this -- is not what you meant at all, but still, oh my god.)

I mean, yeah, Anakin would totally turn Dark for, like, hair product, but the only thing that will put Obi-Wan over the edge is Anakin and always has been. I really must write this. *purrs*

Welcome to the Star Wars fandom. The slash writes itself. (It gets better. [livejournal.com profile] calicokat has a collection of quotes from the RotS novelization here (http://community.livejournal.com/starwars_slash/6098.html). And some great parts (http://calicokat.livejournal.com/132733.html) from the Clone Wars comics. Or, hell, from Labyrinth of Evil (http://cupiscent.livejournal.com/337724.html#cutid1), the prequel novel to RotS. Which I have not read, because I have a limited tolerance for books that haven't passed my qualifications for author quality, and I use it up for school reading.)

And I'm not even counting the moment at the very end of Last Stand at Jabiim (one of the Clone Wars TPBs), where Asajj Ventress (dark Jedi chick) has Obi-Wan chained up and tells him that Anakin's been killed in battle. Cue dramatic Star Wars "NOOOOOOOOOO!" "Welcome to your Dark Side, Obi-Wan Kenobi."

I mean, really, do we really need to say anything beyond that? *pets fondly*

*looks at two scenes where Obi-Wan compromises his ethics for Anakin* I hate you. In a loving kind of way.

Of course, it includes what appear to be a couple of my favorite lines ever: "If you touch him, I will kill you" and "I would die for him, you know. If it was a question of giving him the chance to live one heartbeat longer, I would throw myself in front of a lightsaber without a moment's hesitation."

...I've been reading Cormac McCarthy; it's doing weird things to my writing style.

Omg, The Road? Well, that's the only McCarthy book I've read, so that's what comes to mind. But gah, what an amazing writer.

Also, YES YES YES one hundred percent. Oh, man, so awesome.

All the Pretty Horses. It's not so bad, once you get past the no quotation marks thing. It's just doing really weird things to my writing style when I'm writing just after I read it, which makes it even weirder when it's coupled with Matthew Stover (who also has a distinctive, if annoying, writing style -- he's the one who wrote the RotS novelization of Gay Jedi Love).

*teases some more* "I think that I would betray my vows for him."

Yeah, it's like that in The Road. Brilliant book, though, but it killed my brain to read. Like Jose Saramago, only a bit more readable. Saramago just makes my brain EXPLODE.

I have the feeling he does it in all his books. I really have to go through the book again before we turn it in with a stack of post-its, marking out particularly beautiful passages -- I mean, some of those passages are just, well, man.

There are only two scenes written! (And one of them is basically Obi-Wan talking to thin air, so there's a lot of dramatic statements. The other one is more along the quippy side.)

Huh, I could quote the Clone Wars rampage fic at you: "If you weren't the precious Chosen One, you'd be lucky if you weren't thrown out of the Order with the Force burned out of you." Which, being as it's addressed to Anakin, doesn't really have the effect of Obi-Wan putting a lightsaber to someone's head and saying, "See that? That's Jedi blood. Children's blood. I can hear them screaming in the Force, so don't lie to me."

Oh, I can totally keep quoting at you. I mean, I think I may be running out of snarky or heartbreaking comments, but I have a lot of dialogue.

"I've always come for you!" Anakin snapped. "And you've usually needed it!"

*pages through notebook* Argh, so much of this I can't quote because it gives away stuff about "A Long Time Gone" and the sequel that I don't want to give away!

...oh, hey, here's the scene where Obi-Wan burns down a house.

...oh, and the one where Anakin crawls into bed with Obi-Wan.

Okay, all my kicky dialogue is in the post from the other day.

There may be fic over on [livejournal.com profile] ficwriters_anon, but you didn't hear it from me.

OMG I KNOW.

OMG the scene I want to quote at you has the spoilers I don't want to get out in it. *beats head into wall* Hmm. Maybe I can just quote part of it at you:

"Just to make things clear, Master Vos," he said icily, "I'm here at Amidala's request, not for your little enclave."

(You should also enjoy this (http://community.livejournal.com/starwars_slash/20937.html?thread=134601#t134601). The second comment especially.)
