OH, COLLEGE
Dec. 1st, 2007 04:58 pmGod, I am so annoyed with my dad right now. I e-mailed him the other day, right, telling him I'd been accepted to Tulane, and he e-mailed me back asking, "Are you sure you want to go to school in New Orleans? It's hot and humid there, full of poor blacks, and would they really welcome somebody named Katrina? See who else will accept you."
I mean, hello, I'd like at least a, "Congratulations on getting into college!" before the recriminations start. It's not like Tulane is all that much of an easy school to get into. And I said it wasn't my first choice, and I told him that right now my first choice is Davidson College in North Carolina followed by Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. God. I said I was waiting to hear back from other schools! ARGH.
I mean, is it really that hard to say, "Congratulations on getting into college"? Tulane is a good school. It's not easy to get into college; just because he went to a community college and then transferred to Seattle U...okay, now I'm just being petty. But still.
*sulks*
Huh, most of the colleges I'm applying to are in the South. Looking at the weather right now (snowing), I WONDER WHY. In other words:
Davidson College
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott campus)
Emory University
Tulane University
University of Washington-Seattle
Vanderbilt University
Wellesley College
Williams College
Stanford University
Yale University
I'm also debating on whether or not to apply to Brown, since it doesn't have AFROTC but otherwise I really like the school, and whether I should also apply to Duke and/or UNC-CH. I, um, apparently really like North Carolina, despite the fact I have never been there?
And now that NaNo's over, I keep thinking that I can write fic. I don't know what, though, and I still have to finish my novel, or at least write another 50K of it.

these are not the weather reports you're looking for. pay no attention to that forecast behind the curtain.Think of it this way: with global warming, the northeast will have a pleasantly seasonless climate in no time : )

Date: 2007-12-02 08:02 am (UTC)Of course, I don't really entirely believe in global warming, so that argument isn't really...working.
