bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the die hard way (likefluffy))
Oh my God, Lucy. Yes, yes, because that's what happens when you're raised in another world entirely, when death is in your bones before you've even hit puberty. So beautifully and coldly pragmatic -- Jesus fucking Christ, Lucy; you almost make Peter look like a kind and loving soul (or if we're going to quote Lewis here, prudent and understanding). Peter kills because it's necessary, Peter kills out of vengeance, out of anger, to protect his family and his people -- Lucy kills because it's the prudent thing to do.

Lewis would not approve. *is oddly cheered by this thought*

Why, yes, I am writing part four of "In Constellated Wars", why do you ask?

Hey, SF/F fans, Tor Publishing has free e-books and coverart wallpapers up on their site here for another few days. The only one of the offered books I've read is The Outstretched Shadow by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory, and I've been about to do a rec post on the trilogy (it's the first book) for a few days now, so I highly recommend that book, at least.

...I suddenly really want to write the story where Peter loses his memory and spends, like, a year wandering around the westerlands as a mercenary before his company gets hired to invade Narnia. And the invading commander pulls the single combat gig -- soldier of his choice versus Edmund -- and chooses Peter, because he may not know who he is, but he's the best swordsman in the army. And Peter goes in full-armored, with a helmet on, so Edmund may not be able to see his face, but he recognizes Peter's style of fighting. They're fighting just over the Narnian border, into one of the western countries, so Edmund starts maneuvering backwards, until Peter steps over the border -- and promptly passes out. (Oh, please, like you didn't know the Peter/Narnia was coming.) And then Peter wakes up, Edmund bending over him, and remembers. And the westerland army suddenly remembers an urgent engagement elsewhere.

Oh my God, Lucy. Does not understand why assassination attempts are bad.
