Oh, I see that I have turned into one of those college students.

Cannot go anywhere, because my parents got rid of my auto insurance and therefore they won't let me drive, which kind of spoils my plans of going to the high school today or ANYWHERE ELSE, and I'm dying to get to the library and also the yarn shop. I also can't even walk anywhere, because I live a couple miles outside of town, and also, there is snow, and a lot of it. Also, it is FREEZING (in my house as well as outside). Please to be sending me back to New Orleans now, thanks a lot. Warm weather, no snow, STUFF IN WALKING DISTANCE or at least streetcar distance...

So, uh. Must readjust to the whole country living thing. Which would be easier if I could drive places. ARGH. Seriously, if you live in the country and don't have a car, you're screwed. Less so if you live in town, but since I don't live in town...

Oh, yeah, my plan for the moment definitely includes grad school in the South, not New England. SOUTH I LOVE YOU. Also, gumbo.

And, on top of that, the touchpad on my laptop is acting up. Please don't be broken; I need it to not be broken. Help? (It's working, it's just kind of jerky and less than smooth, and sometimes overshoots or doesn't move or doesn't go where I want it to go.)

Oh, yeah, S.M. Stirling is exactly who I want to be reading right now. *purrs*

Seriously, if you're wondering where my love for writing action/battle scenes came from? That man. That man right there. There is no one better at writing combat. Lynch, Rowling, and Martin get it for world-building, Lehane and Gabaldon for character, but Stirling is where the action and the plot comes from. May the gods be good, I love this writer, and I haven't read him in an age and I'm reading his new book.

Anything I own of him in paperback is coming back to Tulane with me. Meanwhile, I'm going to try and reread all the Stirling I own. *purrs some more*

Meanwhile, my touchpad is still psychotic. Seriously, is there anything I can do or should I call up Dell customer service in tears? It's still working, just not well -- and I'm on my computer around fifteen hours a day, I need it in perfect working order.
