Water: Today, the castle attack will be replaced by Miraz's sneak attack on the How, which ends pretty much the same way only the other way around. OH JOY.

Dust: I have this feeling that I'm going to have to cut the last 1500 words I wrote, in order to rewrite them so they make sense. That, or figure out what the hell Peter's plan is. (He has a plan. Really. I SWEAR TO GOD HE HAS A PLAN and is not just making this up as he goes.) The other option is switching POVs, but I really like the opening scene of Dust 9, and I can't do that from anyone else's POV.

And coming up soon (10 or 12, depending on the POV I do 10 in -- Edmund's or Susan's), the part about which I am twitching: the Telmarine-Narnian military. I am debating whether or not it's going to be the full-out knight thing, plate mail and lances and all that. Traditional knights in shining armor, I mean, not the half mail, half plate thing that Peter has going for him.

I mean, not that there's much of the Narnian army left at this point, but I have to know it. *sigh* Also, I need to know for Vespasian, another one of the camps that managed to scavenge one of the army troops that didn't get completely destroyed by the Calormenes, and possibly Tirian.

...you know, the thing about having a readily available canon is that I occasionally have to stop writing and pull up PC on iTunes so I can check -- wait for it -- Telmarine footwear.

JUST TAKE ME NOW, CRUEL WORLD.

You know, I could just say "boots", but no, I have to be specific. *sulks*

Gosh, and I'm not even on the scene I want. But it is the castle attack! I like the castle attack! Except for the part where half the army dies, but the action, I like the action.

I mean, I'm also watching LotR:TTT in another window, so it's not like I'm exactly lacking for action here, but this is Pevensie action, about a million times better than Middle Earth action.

Seriously, Telmarine footwear. (For the common foot soldier.) Who saw that coming?

ETA: Ha! Got the shot I wanted in the castle attack after all. Looks like knee-length black boots with a buckle on the side; I'll double-check in the bridge scene too.

You know, seriously, watching this side by side with LotR -- not literally side by side, but you know what I mean -- the Narnians, the Pevensies specifically, are, uh, kind of better fighters than the MCs in LotR, because there are all these moments in battles in LotR where they just kind of pause to, I don't know, admire the fact they just killed an orc or something, then they pull their swords out and get right on back to the hacking and bashing. And the Pevensies are all, "Right, onto the next one!" and don't even look at whoever it is they've just killed.

I think Susan may have a faster draw than Legolas, too, but I could be wrong there. But in a Peter/Aragorn fight? My money's on Peter.

ETA2: The bridge scene doesn't give a good shot of the boots, but it adds black or dark brown leather greaves, so whatever, it's not like Caspian's stabbing anyone in the ankle at this point.

ETA3: Okay, I liked, Legolas definitely has a faster draw than Susan. Elvish reflexes and all that. Gimli could probably take out Trumpkin, too. Still, my money would be on Peter or Edmund versus Aragorn.

Also, the scene in Water that I needed the boot description for? That would be for this line: He sees Peta raise her fist at the same time he sees a Telmarine soldier’s black boots and dark leather greaves appear through the grass a few paces in front of him.

At the moment, I like Caspian substantially more than Tirian. *hums*

I mean, despite the outbreeding, how is Caspian smarter, more competent, and more capable than Tirian? Caspian should be the inbred one, right?

Also, it's hard to beat the sheer adorable of Caspian and Peta, even if their dates do consist of killing Telmarines.

Bear with me, ducks, I'm having a Petaverse moment, probably because I am reasonably certain that I have to do massive cuts and/or switch POVs in Dust. And because I am back to wanting Caspian to smack Tirian upside the head.

Or possibly Eustace. You know. Whatever.
