bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (first times (earth_mage))
Man, the Pevensies are screwed up post-LWW. At least Edmund and Susan are trying, but Peter's not even bothering and the first thing Lucy says to her mother -- after a day -- is, "He's not going to listen to you. Why should he?"

Trainwreck.

New personal canon!

Professor Kirke has a gambling problem, thus losing the house.

Papa Pevensie worked at Bletchley Park during the war. I am about ninety percent sure I can make a case for him going to America in the middle of the war to do intelligence work there, too, since as far as I can ascertain, there was joint British-American intelligence work in the U.S. (Also, clearly Edmund inherited it from somewhere.)

I...still have no idea how Mama Pevensie and Susan went to America, unless it was part of some kind of elaborate cover-up.

Not that any of this is going to come up any time soon, hopefully. Especially considering the fact that if anyone in Dust at all makes me learn cryptology, broken necks will result. Lucy can fix it later. Edmund, Susan, friggin' Eustace -- I'm looking at you. (One of these things is not like the others. Do not ask me why; I don't even know.)

DUST. BABY. COME TO MAMA. (Except, of course, the post-LWW fic is still in progress.)

...I feel really bad for Helen Pevensie. Really, really bad.

Husband gone, children gone...and then her kids come back for a weekend, and they're...not her children anymore. Or children at all, really.

On the other hand, she told Susan to do the dishes. I'm -- maybe a third to halfway done? I'm handwriting, so it's going slower than usual. I'll probably switch to typing this weekend.

ETA: I swear to God I wrote this scene for Dust way back when and then cut it, but it's not in my collection of cut scenes. Damn, damn, damn. Well, I remember what the point is, anyway, I just wanted to know what my actual wording had been.

Unless I didn't cut the scene, but I'm ninety percent sure I did.

Huh, also in my collection of cut scenes, the original ending of The Bone's Prayer, version "Peter quotes Latin and is a bloodthirsty bastard." The last sentence of the story was originally, "I want the Telmarines dead."

Dude, this (it is the third one down on the far left) is, like, version "Peter is badass and Aslan is about to eat his head."

Cair Paravel, in all her Golden Age glory. (I am ninety-nine percent sure this is the one from the film, too; there are a couple other versions here, but this is the one they used.) Which is cool, because this is the only time we ever see the entirety of the palace. And damn, but it's big.

Alternate Cair Paravel, this time with the city below. And the harbor. The palace isn't quite right, but it's nearly so. That might have been what Warsverse Cair Paravel looked like at the end of the Golden Age, only add about a hundred ships in the harbor.

The sacrifice. PRETTY. Isn't the firelight gorgeous.

I have no idea who this is, but isn't it pretty?

Mongol centaur? Huh. Maybe I'll play with that later on in Dust, actually.

Roman centaur. This is probably the kind of sketch Tirian used to find in his history books.

Alternate ruins in front of the How. Makes it look more like an abandoned military fortification.

Another Alternate dueling ground, again with the abandoned military fortification, only a different kind this time. I rather like the shrine feeling that we got in the movie, to be honest. (Brought it up in Dust. Must play with the concept.)

Beruna, back when it was still a How and not just a hastily built bridge.

Telmarine town. I just really like this sketch.

Another Telmarine town (city?). I just think it's gorgeous, for some reason.

Caspian's escape. Pretty!

The River God. This artist -- Justin Sweet -- is just pretty.

Wild Narnians. Just...oh my God. This is...creepy.

The Telmarines and Miraz. Beautiful, but again with the creepy.
