Apr. 24th, 2009 08:49 amHere are the conclusions I came to last night:
Warsverse Susan has major, major control issues, some of which, but not all or even most of which, come from the swan princess incident, and one of the reasons that she -- I don't want to say self-destructs, that's not right, but you know what I mean, lipsticks and nylons -- after she and Peter are banned from Narnia is because that's the only way she can control the situation. (By the time Dust rolls around? She's much calmer about the whole thing.)
If Peter was Peta and Susan was -- Simon? -- and High King, there would be a lot of sex on tables but not so much on beds. (On the other hand, this is from Susan's head, so she's not thinking the whole affair through.)
Jill really doesn't like Susan, and I'm not even sure she knows why. She's also of the opinion that her time in Narnia has been so much worse than anything that's ever happened before -- at least setting-wise, which, okay, I grant may be true to some extent. The weather in The Silver Chair was a bitch, and since then she's been living out in the woods eating acorns and shivering inside trees. She's also extremely glad it's Susan who got taken away by the Calormenes and not her, and okay, probably can't blame her for that one.
I suddenly want to write AU fic where Peter is an undercover agent who's getting deeper and deeper in and Susan is his handler. The weird thing is that this would work better with, like, any other character than Peter -- Edmund! Susan! Even Lucy! Except Peter is always the steadfast and strong one, so maybe that's why. I'm not sure who Edmund and Lucy are in this scenario, though. (Unless this is the immortal!Susan 'verse, of course. Always possible.)
ETA: ...I have no idea why I thought it would be a great idea to do a vanity Google ten minutes before I have to go to class. But Dust is on the front page of Epic Runes? Good? Bad? WTF?
