why am I not on spring break yet
Mar. 5th, 2010 01:46 pm* I owe people comments, I am a bad human being.
* WEEKEND. *clings*
* You know those weird coincidences that occur when you're taking unrelated classes? Like, how two professors in a row will talk about philology when it's never happened before, or you'll spend one day debating if King John should have been "Bad King John" or "John the Great" and the next day talking about whether Justinian should have been "Justinian the Great" or "Justinian the Pretty Good", or talking about the Artemision and the chryselaphantine statue of Zeus in the same day in two different classes, and this is actually starting to make me worry if my Byzantine Civ prof is psychic.
* Reading about the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, various pieces of statuary and sculpture, and the chryselaphantine statue of Zeus makes me want to write Narnia fic about the pieces of statuary and sculpture left behind after the Golden Age. Also because I like the word "chryselaphantine." (There is a chryselephantine statue of Aslan somewhere, I think on one of the islands. I will get back to you on where when I figure it out.)
* Studying history makes me think longingly of A Song of Ice and Fire. Which in theory I could reread, because between myself and my roommate we have all the books here, but I do not have time.
* I have had Gladiator sitting on my desk for, like, a month now and have not watched it yet. Granted, this has been somewhat made up for by the fact I watch Spartacus: Blood and Sand in snatches of sheer hilarity. Although comparing the two is possibly not the best comparison ever.
* It's the weekend. *pets*
