After two months of craving, I have finally watched Gladiator. Look, I haven't seen this since 2000, okay? And I was ten in 2000.
My Byzantine Civ prof says Commodus was actually much crazier than in the movie. Also, I was so hoping for Maximus to lay open a can of whup-ass on Rome, but alas, no.
Also, I want to go to Rome. Like, right now. RIGHT NOW. Apparently there are a number of classics students that do one semester abroad in Rome and one semester abroad in Athens, which strikes me as the most self-indulgent thing ever, but oh my God, if I had known this was an option a year ago, I would be all over it.

Date: 2010-03-06 03:28 pm (UTC)...okay, for the Rome program, the fall application is due tomorrow, but I definitely don't have the qualifications right now, because my background is in Greek history, not Roman history, and I have no background at all in Latin or Greek.
...it is really distressing how much easier to navigate Duke's study-abroad website is than Tulane's. (The program is run through Duke University.)
