*sighs* Okay, I think checking my network at this unseemly hour of the morning was probably a bad idea, as I saw at least two things that are guaranteed to stress me out and I have a final in thirty-five minutes that I could be more prepared for; I do not need more stress.

That must be the calmest, most-controlled final I've ever taken. I finished in an hour and a half, no pressure, I got everything said I wanted to say on the two essays, I fell down a little on the last paragraph of the first one, but the body is good, I knew all the emperors on the ID (which, well, there were also fourteen other things on the ID that I mostly didn't know, but I knew all the emperors, which, half of them are named Constantine or some variant thereof, so I'm a little impressed with myself), my hand's not sore, I'm not freaked out, and -- okay, I'm a little freaked out by how mild it all was, but that's not the kind of freaked out I'm talking about.

I should probably start studying for my Medieval England final or pack, but I think I shall watch last night's Castle instead.

I cannot sell back any of my textbooks to the bookstore. Any of them. Jesus Christ.

I guess I could do online buyback, but -- eh, I don't know. *flaps hands* Well, I guess the other alternative is storing them here, shipping them home, selling some of them to Maple Street Bookshop, or donating them to charity.

*grumbles* Freaking MLA Handbook, now not only outdated, but I will never use it because history uses Chicago...

ETA: I am mostly debating what I want to do with my fairy tales books. I'm not sure if I'll ever look at them again, but I might, because they are fairy tales, but I don't actually plan on having children or becoming a fairy tale scholar, so it comes down to I just don't know. I'm fine with keeping most of my history books, because I am a history person, but -- ARGH.

My friend Chicago has an ex-boyfriend who has been sending her harassing text messages. He's been doing this all school year now, after repeated attempts on her part to get him to stop, and since it's the end of the school year, she's afraid to go back to Chicago. He's also an ex-felon, for reasons that she's not sure of, but other fun facts include a baby daughter he never sees and an alcohol problem and a drug addiction. (She met him through a friend who does AA.) Unfortunately, he hasn't sent her anything that she could go with the police with as grounds for a restraining order, and she doesn't want her parents to know about this. Right now, her latest option is to get her gentleman friend (who's AFROTC) to send him a text telling him to leave her alone, in the hopes that it will get him to threaten her via text and she can take that to the police. Does anybody have any advice or other options? She really doesn't want to go to her parents, and any advice would be much appreciated.

(She is making me add that she is a fine, upstanding citizen, and I can vouch for her character, if not her taste in men.)

(She also can't block his phone number; she has an unjailbroken iPhone.)

ETA: Chicago would like me to add that her parents don't know this guy exists, and has absolutely refused to tell her parents, despite repeated entreaties on my part. (Also she is reading over my shouldder and vetting everything I type.) Things I should add: she is not in Chicago proper (small town where everyone knows everybody, including the cops), she is not a minor, her parents are paying her tuition, and she's a gender studies major so I have no idea why she is so stubborn on this point, and she believes I am over-reacting.

And thank you very, very much to everyone who has replied at this point.

*bites lip* And now I feel like I may have actually made things worse, as Chicago has decided she is overreacting, despite the fact that she asked me to ask the Internet.

cut for worry )

And now the rest of the suite also thinks I'm overreacting.
