So how about that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey trailer, huh? I watched it last night at Sea-Tac and couldn't stop smiling. Martin Freeman looks perfect as Bilbo, though they're really pushing the LotR connection.

Yes, Sea-Tac! I am now safely ensconced at home, where I have discovered the reason that people move out is so they aren't crushed by the weight of their own childhood clutter. IT HAS TO GO. I am kind of terrified by it. (My dad moved all my things out of the library, so now they're piled up in boxes in the hallway outside my room. I need to go through them and figure what can go to Goodwill or St. Vince's, and if there are any of my textbooks I can sell on Amazon, but...fear. Oh man.)

My travel experience was fine. I was kind of worried about traveling this close to Christmas -- Tulane finished later than usual this term -- but it was fine. I figured out over the summer that one aid to my continued well-being while in transit was to eat at every opportunity, but sadly this means I have to spend a lot of money on food, because airports and airlines are overpriced sons of bitches. (Yeah, I'll work on actually packing food when I go back in January.) Unusually, I actually managed to sleep on my flights; I also neither read nor knit, despite bringing both a book and my current WIP (which is a Christmas present, so, uh, I probably should have done that). They were playing the premiere of Alcatraz (which starts in January!) over and over again on the plane, and I watched it with the sound off all three times because I kept being asleep at the beginning and I didn't want to watch it and not know what was going on from the beginning. And...I was surprisingly okay with that. It looks interesting. I am not entirely certain what was happening, but there's a hot blonde detective with a gun and a badass older cop/FBI agent/prison warden (I'm not sure) and Jorge Garcia. AND A MYSTERY.

Also, I've reached a point in my life where (a) I can sit quietly and not be doing something with my hands or reading and not be bored (I mean, not all the time, I still get bored) and (b) I can type the words "Jill Pole is a FUCKING BADASS" and mean it.

Back on vacation, back on Dust. I'm going to get this chapter done, praise the gods, hopefully within a couple of days (I know where it's going), then I'm going to switch over to the NBB and try to either write like the wind or make it shorter. (Since it's...um, gearing up to Dust I-length, and I'm pretty sure even I can't write 150K in a month.)
