Dani Messer is just like Danny Messer, only with a lot more sass and a lot better fashion sense. She's a tomboy, because she grew up surrounded by the guys that her brother brought home, but she also has that touch of sexy to her that she can turn on whenever it's to her advantage. I imagine she's a lot like Letty in The Fast and the Furious...

See, there are two ways I could go. I could go straight Bardverse Dani, which is pretty damn different from current canon Dani, or current canon Dani. Bardverse Dani is -- well. It's harder to think of Bardverse Dani because I don't remember most of the Bardverse, and it's a constructed universe, not one where I can work off the created restraints. She left Val because he was going to make her get married, and no way in hell was she making a political marriage; that was just taking things too far. And she's going to be the first female don in the American Mafia.

Current canon Dani is a little less sassy -- no less strong-willed, but not as open about it. She's a little more shy and fidgety; Sonny Sassone was the one who taught her how to hold a gun and do other, less pleasant things. Louie figured it out and got her away from Tanglewood fast. She tends to be underestimated -- by Mac as well as by various suspects and other cops; he still has long stretches where he's not certain why he hired her punctuated by moments of, "Oh, that's why," before he goes back to being dubious. She and Lindsay clash; trouble is two women under the same roof and they're about the same age, about the same experience give or take. Flack has a crush on her.

*waits patiently* I do have a much better grasp on canon Dani, though, since Bardverse Dani is so radically different from Bardverse Danny.
