So, um, Creative Writing Club had concessions yesterday? There is a possibility we may have set off the fire alarm by burning popcorn. And by possibility, I mean "evacuated the school", although fortunately immediately after the girls' game had finished. Like, literally, the band finished playing the fight song and the fire alarm went off.

*cough* *not from smoke inhalation*

Solo Ensemble was today; I played at 8:10 and 1:20 and did okay; I don't know my scores yet. Probably okay.

Also, at CWC yesterday, one of my Spaceforce excerpts got critiqued. Most of it is stuff that I'll probably ignore -- people kept asking about the military terms, and there was some stuff about my phrasing and POV -- but most of it was legit and I got to talk about Beau and Cam, and Beau and Sassy, and "Is Beau Southern?" "Yeah, he's from South Carolina." "I can tell."

Wow, a whole school with one popcorn bag. Go CWC. *thumbs up*

Well, it wasn't like we did it on purpose. And there was no actual fire. There wasn't even much smoke. I mean, the popcorn burned through the garbage bag, then the alarm went off.

I didn't say it was bad, just saying it was impressive. ;)

Probably the detectors caught the fume of burning plastic.

Probably. *sigh* And then we got a lot of ragging from people -- bandies, teachers, innocent bystanders.

At least the game was over when it went off, right? So everyone was leaving anyway. Just added a little extra jump to the proceedings.

I can't imagine the fire dept was too thrilled.

Our girls' games and boys' games are the same night, girls first, then boys; the fire alarm went off right after the girls game ended, so after they declared it safe to go back into the school the boys warmed up and then the boys' game started. (The boys game typically gets more people, but the girls are better. Almost undefeated, and only defeated once because the Othello refs made really bad calls. And by better, I mean, typically wins by forty to fifty points.)

And then everybody wanted to buy popcorn!

Ahh that's not so good then. And heh, isn't that always how it goes? Apparently both our basketball teams are pretty spectacular these days.

There's a district called "Othello"? !! what's their mascot? :O

It should become a "thing". ;) Popcorn! Makes for wins! And School Spirit! ;)

Our boys team is only so-so right now. They're always within, like, five points of winning, but they let it slip at the last minute. Except last week. Last week they beat the fourth-ranked team in the state.

*thinks* The Huskies. They're the Othello Huskies. In the CWAC, though, there are the Quincy Jackrabbits. *smirks*

Except that the boys didn't win, so. *grin*

Aww, poor kids.

That's a wasted opportunity, right there. Jackrabbits isn't so bad. I'd be impressed if any team had the balls to call itself the Jackalopes (although that's the wrong geographic area). Apparently in Washington, there's the "Kernels" the "Acorns" and the "Billiegoats".

We have the "Grey Ghosts", "Big Blue", Gloucester is (naturally) the "Fishermen", Salem is the "Witches" (of course).

Wow...

I still can't believe that that happened to us. I still reserve the right to blame Kyle, BTW. ^_^
