bedlamsbardI am kind of fascinated by the idea of writing a Narnia/LotR crossover. I mean, in TTT Eomer is off wandering around for who knows how long, and maybe he wandered into Narnia! Pursued by orcs! Straight into the middle of the High King's hunting party! And as the Rohirrim were fighting, an arrow came out of nowhere to save Eomer at the last minute, and everybody turned around to see the High King of Narnia, Queen Susan, King Edmund, Queen Lucy, and a fair portion of the Narnian court standing on the bluff above. And Peter says, in a terrible voice, "Leave my land, or as Aslan witness it, there will be more blood spilled here today. I shall sanction no evil to be done in Narnia so long as I sit at Cair Paravel." Quickly followed by the orcs growling insults and the Narnians charging, and afterwards Peter feasts the Rohirrim at Cair Paravel and Lucy flirts and Susan and Eomer...talk. (If you know what I mean, and I think you do.) And then Gandalf shows up and goes, "A little help would be appreciated if you'd like a country to go back to. By the way, your uncle's no longer crazy and your cousin's dead."
After all, there definitely weren't two thousand lancers when they surrounded Aragorn and Co. (movieverse). Maybe the rest came from...somewhere else.
Like Narnia!
Followed by, ahem, and then Peter killed a bunch of people. Excuse me, orcs. Then Peter killed a bunch of orcs, and made friends with Theoden and Aragorn and possibly had a fling with Legolas. Then he went back to Narnia. Or, I don't know, maybe he went back to Narnia, raised a bigger army, and rode to Gondor to be part of the big battle in front of Minas Tirith. Only, that part we probably would have seen in the movie, but we could fanwank the rest. Maybe.
Hey, at least my delusions are fun.
(No, seriously. Eomer/Susan. Can anyone else see it?)
(Why, yes, I did just rewatch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. The extended editions, thank you very much, which is less like watching movies and more like watching the entire season of a TV series. Although I have to admit, I think the battle strategy in Narnia is better than in LotR; clearly Peter is a better general than, um, Theoden and Aragorn and Gandalf and Sauron and Denethor...okay, anyone is better than Denethor. Also, I would totally meta on movie!Legolas -- I am so predictable it hurts -- but I have an orthodontist appointment in the morning, so, uh, not now.)
