I do not understand the people that get basic facts wrong. Peter is the ELDEST Pevensie (not Susan -- oh, you think I'm kidding). Susan is a QUEEN (not a princess and not the High Queen). There are more, but I can't think of specifics at the minute.

What I really don't get is when people in book fandoms spell names wrong. OH FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS, PEOPLE. (I'm thinking specifically of HP here, but I know it's shown up in every single fandom.)

I was reading a Starsky & Hutch fic the other day and the author kept referring to "blue eyes"...I got further enraged every time, and was all "Brown eyes, BROWN EYES!!!"...*grits teeth*

It was a good fic and it may be stupid to let it bother me that much, but COME ON. One of the most basic facts of their physical descriptions, with plenty of pictures available for reference, and you don't bother to check? *scowls*

Oh, I KNOW. (Or the HP writers who talk about Harry's "blue eyes." Plot point. MAJOR PLOT POINT. Spoken of in all seven books! Just because Daniel Radcliffe can't wear green contacts...)

I've seen that a lot in book-based fandoms that get turned into movies or tv shows. Many people don't bother to read the original work, and the write or discuss based off the visuals, instead of canon.

But in a fandom like Starsky & Hutch, it *is* a tv media-based show, so there's not even that flimsy excuse.

This is why I had the minor breakdown over writing in Narnia. (I blame HP. HP brainwashed me so I can't look at anything sensibly anymore, but seriously, there's so much stigma -- or at least there was at one time -- attached to writing movieverse for a print fandom.)

MOST ANNOYING THING EVER. AND THEN WHEN THEY FORGET TO CAPITALIZE THINGS LIKE "QUIDDITCH" IN HP, ALONG WITH HOUSES AND OTHER WHATNOT THAT NEED TO BE CAPITALIZED.

....AND HOW DO YOU FORGET THAT PETER'S THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS THE TITLE "HIGH" ADDED TO HIS TITLE? ASLAN SAID HE IS THE HIGH KING OVER ALL OTHER KINGS WHICH MAKES HIM THE ONE AND ONLY. *facepalm*

And it's a book fandom! I mean, I get it in movie/tv fandoms, most of the time, because sometimes there aren't written cues, but with text/print fandoms...

No, I'm still back on, "How do you forget that Peter's the oldest? Aslan says so! And he's the High King!" (I mean, seriously, Peter will not refer to Susan as his older sister when she's younger than him.)

I know! And if you forget how to spell something, you could Google it, and I'm sure they'd give you the corrected spelling (if you did it wrong).

I know. That's seriously annoying. I mean I know that the book never explicitly (sp?) states the age DIFFERENCE between each of the Pevensies, and so it's alright if some people are off by a year or something, but seriously, it's Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, in THAT ORDER as far as age order goes. URGH.

My personal favorite fanfailure is when people make Caspian the High King because Peter can't go back to Narnia, or whatever reason they think.
I personally believe any guy who needs to have 6 children save his life, not once but twice, and his son's life does not deserve the title of High King for reasons of incompetence. (I actually don't hate Caspian but when authors write him wrong I do, oh with a passion do I hate him).

You need not worry about venturing into far me dear. I know well enough that you would not forget basic facts stated in the books. That is why unlike a ton of authors who have only seen the movies your fics are a breath of fresh air.
