Guys, I have just thought of something that makes my day so much better.

Due to certain of Lewis's subplots, Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be forced to include Caspian and Edmund in chains.

Let's dwell on that image for a minute, shall we?

(Dude, if you thought I was not this shallow, you are totally wrong.)

It doesn't quite make up for not having Peter, of course.

And who the hell are the band of lost warriors? I'm not so sure about this Will Poulter guy, either. I'm even less certain about Michael Apted, the new director. (WHY ADAMSON WHY? Look at Peter Jackson! It's not going to kill your career to direct all of Narnia!)

But on the other hand...Caspian and Edmund in chains. (Well, and Lucy and Eustace, of course, but Caspian and Edmund.)

*waves a small flag* Me, I'm looking forward to the explosion in Caspian/Edmund smut post VOTD...

I think the 'band of lost warriors' is probably the Seven Lords, or maybe just the last three of them.

Yes, and Caspian gets bought and taken off to be released, spending the night in safety; while Edmund gets to stay in chains, all pretty and vulnerable and with a saractic mouth on him and you know what THAT means.

Oh, and Lucy and Eustace, too. But nobody's gonna even look at them. *waves hand in airy dismissal*

I figure, even if the movie sucks...well, at least we'll have some pretty pictures to look at and new fuel for fics. We can ignore the rest and live in happy denial-land.(I've got a mansion there already.)

Even boys as pretty as Edmund won't be able to stop me from angsting over the lack of Peter. *wails*

That is totally Aslan's fault. Too old? Whatever, just admit you don't want them to go back! Or it is just that Lewis felt that the character is too out of control. Either way, Peter will still NOT be there.

Sorry, I am complaining too much. I usually get carried away when Peter is mentioned. *facepalm*

Seriously, at this point, these mental images are enough to make my week. I can't wait till the promo pics come out. Or, you know, the actual movie.

Ah, yes, I have read your Aslan conspiracy theory carefully and was totally intrigued! Although I may not be started from the same place as you, I do feel that Peter would be too difficult to control for Aslan in the end. Susan, too. That's why he promptly threw them out of Narnia and told them they could never come back. In my eyes, or Aslan's, for that matter, Peter's biggest problem is that he doesn't simply "wait for Aslan faithfully" if situation is dire enough, he seemed to have no problem at all taking matters in his own hands. I bet Aslan really abhors this. Well, it maybe my biased/prejudiced/demented mind speaking, but really, I only envision Lucy to be faithful to Aslan in absolute terms. The others, they all strayed at one point or another. And I absolutely love it when you said "Peter's loyalty does not lie with Aslan, but with Narnia". It wasn't exactly my way of looking at it (well, I have to admit I am wearing rosy glasses when I look at the fantasy world, and my Narnia will be so much more fairytale-like than yours), but your idea is totally ingenious and fascinating! I am so eager for your new fic.

Exactly. And what's kind of fascinating is that we actually get this in canon, because if there's a better example of Peter going, "Screw Aslan, I'm not waiting for my country to get taken over," than Peter's breaking and entering act in The Last Battle, I don't know it.

Ineptshieldmaid & I were talking about the potential for Caspian/Edmund in the next movie & she's quite disturbed by the hammocks they sleep in. They make the logistics of sex extremely difficult.

*I* say having Eustace right there in the room so they never have any privace is even worse. *grumpy face*

*tilts head sideways* I dunno, that Will Poulter kid's got a sulky look about him, like he could do with a good lesson in restraint...

Oh, you've got a place in Denial too? You'll have to pop over for tea sometime, I live just on the other side of the Stubborn Ranges.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaah there needs to be fic SO HARD about Peter and Edmund going to get the rings, being all like, "Should we open it? Should we use it ourselves?" Inner conflict in the dawn light! Then Peter's like, "Yes," but Edmund's like, "No." Because it is not their time anymore, and it hasn't been their time for ages. Edmund is reminded of looking down a gorge hundreds of feet deep, and the look on Peter's face reminds him of that day, years ago, and Edmund sees in his mind's eye Trumpkin rolling his eyes, Susan frowning, Lucy on the lookout for a flash of golden mane. "No," Edmund says again, and Peter says no more, so Edmund says no more.

They collect their shovels and leave.

They're shirtless, right? Well, I'd assume they'd be, 'cause you know, the slavers want to show off their "wares" when selling them, so YAH.

Of course, they could always bring Lucy in on the fun, I suppose.

And then Peter drops the box, which breaks open, letting the rings out! And grabs for them without thinking to put his gloves back on, and Edmund shouts, "Pete, no!" but it's too late, and Peter finds himself in the place between worlds, clutching a pair of rings in his hand. And -- because he's Peter -- he goes straight to the pool that's Narnia's without even thinking of it, and not five seconds later he's rolling to his feet on the hill by Tirian, looking around for an enemy even though he doesn't have a weapon in his hand. And Narnia is in his head, singing a joyful, triumphant cry and trying to tell him what's wrong all at once, and for a moment -- just a moment -- he feels everything, and he's not Peter Pevensie at all, but Narnia: in pain and terrified and frustrated and helpless.

And then Edmund, who's followed him because that's what he does, grabs his shoulders and shakes him. "Pete, snap out of it!" he says, and just like that Peter's back in his body, panting for breath like he's run a marathon. And they go around a stand of trees and find Tirian tied there.

*facepalm* Not writing that AU.

Awkward confrontation with Aslan ahoy!
"Hey, I thought I said you guys were too old."
"Yeah that was before you let Narnia--"
And Edmund's like, "THAT IS TO SAY, it was an accident. We didn't mean to touch the rings. SORRY."
And then, I am at a loss, because I haven't worked out how petty Aslan is quite, and whether this means there's no train crash, but I'm partial to the idea where there IS, and Peter and Edmund aren't invited to Aslan's Country. Peter, Susan, and Edmund play house in the Shadowlands. ANGSTILY. omg i want the au where someone is left behind with susan and MAYBE i will write this
GODDAMMIT PLOT BUNNIEZ

It would be ironic though, if Peter's tied to Narnia, and in the end Narnia dies, what does that do to Peter? Or say he saves Narnia in the AU, but he's still not allowed to come back. Peter. SO SCREWED.

Peter only gets horribly injured in the train crash! (Well, he and Edmund were on the platform, not the actual train. *shrug*) And he wakes up to Susan crying over him in the hospital, and then realizes --

Well, that's going to be an interesting conversation to have with Tirian. Edmund: "Yeah, I'm King Edmund, and I...have no idea where the High King is. At all. BUT I SWEAR HE'S STILL LOYAL TO NARNIA."
