"In a Dark Wood", the fifth part of "In Constellated Wars" is complete at (wait for it) 10,108 words. Yes, I want to shoot Caspian too. (Almost twice as long as Peter's story!)

Now the part all you guys were waiting for: first draft, final wordcount of the entire story, is...

38,832

OH MY GOD I THINK I JUST WROTE MORE FOR NARNIA THAN I HAVE FOR ANY OTHER FANDOM SINCE CSI:NY. Which, let me add, was three years ago, so we're talking many other fandoms here.

(And I was worried this was going to be a 20K story. Ha. HA.)

At least a couple thousand words are getting cut in edits, thank the gods.

That, and the fact that as the last person written, Caspian had already been sidelined into appearing in situations with other characters who otherwise didn't see each other. (He starts out with Edmund, then he's with Edmund, Susan, and Lucy, then he goes to see some Narnians, then he's with everyone, then Edmund again, then Edmund and Peter, then Susan and Lucy, then Edmund again, and then with everyone again.) Whereas, on the other hand, Peter, who was the first POV written, is by himself, with Susan, with everyone, with Edmund and Caspian, with some Narnians, by himself again, with everyone, then by himself and ends up with Lucy. And the bastard's not as introspective as the others.

Well, that does seem to make sense... and I'm still really looking forward to reading it.
Peter being not so introspective might be because he's more of a "take action" kinda guy, right?

Yeah -- he doesn't think about things the way the others do, and he has his entire memory, unlike Lucy, so he's not grasping at straws. And he's so angry throughout the entire story that he isn't thinking much beyond, I am going to beat his head in with a shovel towards Caspian. Everyone else is trying to do damage control.
