Peter just decided to perform a foolproof test to see if Caspian really was a king of Narnia: Caspian's blood, Narnia's soil, trusting that Narnia would tell Peter if Caspian was really who he said he was.

She did. With a headache that backlashed and hit Caspian as well as Peter, then spilled over and hit Edmund too.

“Pete?” Edmund said from behind her bulk, his voice raw. “What the hell was that?”

Peter swore, the words liquid and unfamiliar, and then he said, “Oh, Trickster’s fucking balls, my head. Shut up, baby.”

“Pete?” Edmund said again. “You all right there?”

“No,” Peter said shortly. “Darling, I love you an enormous amount, please shut up, you’re giving me a headache.”

“Have I mentioned lately that that’s really creepy?”

“Try being me. Oh, Aslan.”
