Back in Ellensburg after a busy day of fleeing, fleeing for the hills before the approaching hurricane! (Obviously the first thing I did as soon as I got home was set up my laptop. Obviously.)

However, my exciting day of fleeing, fleeing for the hills! was interrupted by the movie shown during the flight from Houston to Seattle. Three guesses what it was, and the first two don't count.

Prince Caspian I was more than happy to wake up for. (I woke up at 4:45; slept through the flight from New Orleans to Houston and the beginning of the Houston-Seattle flight. Then I woke up. For Narnia.) Teeny-tiny little screen and the couple in front of me kept making out and getting in the way (on an AIRPLANE!), but oh my God, I love that movie. Also, I'm really thrilled to see that most of my characterization cues actually are on screen; I'm not making them up out of thin air. (Including Peter's preternatural calmness v. his battle frenzy, which I see in the movie.) My Edmund is snarkier and sharper-tongued, but aside from that, I'm willing to say my characterization's pretty close to golden. (Then I started thinking about Peta, but there we go.) *extremely pleased* And you know me, I spent a pretty significant portion of the movie going, "Oh, my babies! ASLAN YOU UTTER BASTARD. Oh, my babies! Caspian, you are so screwed. Oh, Peter. Oh, Edmund. Oh, Pevensies. What the hell, Lucy?"

Also, yes, there was fleeing. The New Orleans airport was pretty full for it being, uh, six-thirty in the morning, and understandably so; Tulane's not the only school evacuating its students, since most of the other universities are too.

And being back in Washington makes me realize that actually, I really, really like Tulane and New Orleans. There's nothing like a hurricane evacuation to make you realize you made the right choice in schools! Also, the weather in Washington sucks. I should not have to wear a sweatshirt and jeans in August. This is why I applied down south. (All of you who are about to say, "I told you so," I will bribe you with fic not to.)

Tomorrow: Rodeo Parade! Must go support the band, all of whom I expect to go, "...aren't you supposed to be in New Orleans, Katrina?", and I'm actually excited about being able to watch the Death March, which is my favorite part of the parade but which I've never actually been able to see since I've always been in it. And Fair, which means I must call of my friends who are going to Central or the U-Dub, since they'll still be in town. And somehow I think if my band director has the presence of mind right now to watch the news, he'll be freaking out because he knows I'm in New Orleans, so I'll see him tomorrow after or before the parade.

Well, the good thing about being here is that I can get all the stuff I forgot to bring the first time...

Yes. Remember, before the attack, the boys are just standing there, and I am thinking, 'what are they waiting for?!?!' And then there is a close-up, and I see that Peter is COUNTING; and the centaurs are smashing the columns, and the Telmarines are approaching, and STILL he is standing there and COUNTING. And then he just BLOWS UP.

I told... A bribe, a bribe! Let it be a nice BIG bribe, please.

Best wishes, Elena.

*nods* That is a professional. And there are a few other instances too where he's just so damn calm, but for some reason I can't remember the specifics. The second war council, maybe? Or right before he goes after the minotaur -- oh! When the train station is imploding and all the other Pevensies are looking around going, "What the hell?" and Peter's just standing there waiting patiently. And it's Peter who goes, "Everybody hold hands," isn't it? And when Edmund goes, "I'm not holding your hand," Peter just grabs on.

*sulks*

Your Edmund actually gets to *talk*. But given what we do see on-screen, and the book characterization, I'd say he's accurate. Trust you to make a hurricane evactuation into lemonade-you got to see PC again...*laughs*

I'm glad to hear you're all right. :)

I have my priorities, damn it! And I was expecting not to see PC again until December, when it comes out on DVD. And I got a fair bit of "Old Timber to New Fires" written in various airports, too. *preens* Wherein Peter, uh, kicks Edmund's ass and Caspian goes, "OH MY GOD I WANT TO GO HOME."

(And for some reason I want to write Warsverse Peter/Edmund, and I BLAME YOU.)

I totally put Prince Caspian on my iPod so I could watch it on the plane! SO THRILLING. It was like a nice closure to the summer, my SUMMER OF NARNIA. Oh man. Those warm golden days... spent in my bedroom on my laptop...

I'm glad Tulane is working out then! There is nothing like leaving a place to make you realize you're looking forward to returning.

*dreamily* Good summer. Good, good summer.

Sure, if my school isn't drowned under six feet of water. *scowls* Go AWAY, Gustav.
