bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the die hard way (likefluffy))

Snagged from everywhere. Not counting commentfic.

1. As a ship rounds Heresceaft Point from the south, it’s just possible, on a clear day, to see the gleam of reflected sunlight off the white walls of Cair Paravel.

2. On the first day of spring, in the tiny interval between winter storms and spring storms, three ships flying white banners above unfamiliar flags sailed into Cair Paravel’s sheltered but unused harbor.

3. It’s not because she’s the youngest.

4. The thing about being a soldier for fifteen years, Edmund finds, is that you can fall asleep anywhere and at any time.

5. Peter is so angry that Susan is more than half-convinced he’s going to kill something before the night is out.

6. It takes Caspian three days with the Old Narnians before he realizes that the four children who broke the Long Winter are the same people as Narnia’s fairytale heroes, Peter the King of Summer, Susan the Queen of Spring, Edmund the Prince of Shadows, and – well, to be completely honest, Lucy is almost never mentioned in Telmarine legend.

7. Wineskins, Peter thinks, not for the first time – although, he’s aware, the first time in a while – are not nearly as satisfying as bottles.

8. "You've never done this before, have you?" Peter whispers against his neck.

9. “Oh, this is going to be good,” Susan mutters, because she knows the sound of those horns.

10. In England, everything is dulled and muted, almost painfully so.

11. Peter is away on campaign in the south, fighting against neighboring Archenland, and Lucy has gone to stay with the Beavers in the west, and Susan has the most horrible cramps, which is far more than Edmund really wants to know about his sister.

12. At the time of the departing, when the Sun fled the heavens and the Night reigned supreme until it was pushed back once more at dawn when the Sun rose resurrected, the setting sun struck the domes of the temples and lit them up as had not been seen for a hundred years, when the White Queen had first ordered the domes painted white in her honor.

13. They had taken the horses far and fast – too far and too fast, Eomer feared, for although the great horses of Rohan were legend throughout all of Middle-Earth, they were no more than mortal steeds, and subject to all the flaws of mortality.

14. "You are an IDIOT!" Peter shouted; the words were clear through the thick fabric of his tent and could probably be heard on the other side of the camp.

15. Caspian isn’t looking for Peter, not precisely, but he finds him anyways, leaning against the parapets of the castle’s tallest tower and watching the sun set.

16. “You,” Edmund tells Caspian drunkenly, “are very young.”

17. The moon is still faint in the morning sky when they arrive at the summer fair.

18. Peter wakes up screaming.

19. The Telmarines have stories of the High King and his consorts as well.

20. Once upon a time, in a far off kingdom, there lived a sad young baker, a woman who had once been a princess and was therefore no longer a maiden, a girl with a wolfskin cloak, a boy who had once slain giants, and the baker’s only child, a boy of a year.

Dude. That almost managed to be all Narnia fic, but I came up one short.
