You know, there's a pretty good chance that the fact that the majority of my Narnia playlists are "my baby done left me" country is making me even more melancholy than I already am.

Oh, shut up, after stating the fact that my OTP is "The Country and Her Boy", it's not like I have any reputation left to protect anyway. And it's good country. It's not the "beer for my horses" type.

(No, seriously, tell me this isn't the perfect Narnia POV song post-PC? Or that this isn't an excellent Lucy PC-era song? Or that this isn't bitter Narnia at the beginning of PC? (No wonder Peter has such a headache.)

Of course, it's not all doom and gloom and country. Some of it's Peter's fucked up love affair with Narnia, post-LWW drinking and all. Some of it's immortal!Susan going crazy after sixty years alone. And some of it's Peta and Caspian getting it on.)

Still, the majority of it is "my baby done left me" country. *shrug* And I'm not even just talking about my Peter/Narnia playlist here. (My Edmund playlist, on the other hand, is strangely upbeat, but my Edmund is the only mostly sane one.)

But on the bright side, my school is not under twenty feet of water! Hurrah for New Orleans! Hurrah for Tulane! Hurrah for warm weather!

I thoroughly approve.

Not that I listen to country, but that's probably because no one's ever handed me a stack of it *to* listen to.

I should make me some playlists. So far the only song that makes me go AAAH NARNIA is 'The Morning Report' from the Lion King Musical. I'm having great fun imagining Mr Tumnus as Zazu, reporting to the royal family, and Peter and Lucy stalking up and pouncing on him.

Dude, I can rec you artists, although my tastes run towards the line between folk and country. Lori McKenna, Kasey Chambers, the Wrights, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris...okay, in retrospect, not that much country, it's just that so much of those singers really, really fits my Narnia 'verse.

While we're here: On the Rocks (http://www.onlylyrics.com/song.php?id=29694) -- so Caspian and Peta after about a week of being married. (In the actual recording, it switches back and forth between male and female singers, so it's really cool, and kind of hilarious.)

*sporfles* ahahaha. 's too bad all my songs are songs of ANGST, except for Peter/Narnia, which starts out happy and head over heels in love, then kind of dips into disturbing, then goes down and wallows in angst before ending on a baby note of hope, because I refuse to go into Peter's emotional trauma post-PC. I save that for the interim between LWW and PC.

The line between folk and country sounds like a good place to be :) Every man and his dog tells me I need Lori McKenna; I used to have some Kasey Chamers on *tape* as a kid but blowed if I know what I did with it, and also I couldn't play it anyway now.

AHAHA. On the Rocks sounds like fun :)

(My little brother was into *death* country for a while, that was entertaining.)

The sad thing is that I only really figured out what type of music I really liked these past few months. I FAIL AT LIFE.

:) If it helps, I don't so much have a personal taste in music as a conglomerate of the musical tastes of important people in my life... Although, given that it has been eight years or so since I decided The Wiggles was no longer an appropriate favourite band for a high school student (wtf? what was I ON? The Wiggles are awesome!) and pinched my brothers' music collection, said conglomerate has picked up bits and pieces of so many people it's almost individual.

I blame you for the fact that I spent God knows how long last night making a Narnia playlist :P. Look: a song for Peter in England. And a song discovering PC-era Narnia.

I ran across Pandora (http://www.pandora.com) at some point a month or so again, and now I have a taste in music. I love Pandora.

Oooh!

I tried running LastFM, but I think it doesn't work with my uni network :(

My playlist also includes selections from Handel's Coronation Anthems, numbers 2 and 4. Because one has to break up one's croony indie-edge-of-pop playlists occaisionally.

Heh. Now, my Narnia playlists are "Lucy", "Edmund", "immortal!Susan", "Never Die Young (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/257001.html)", "Peter", "Peta/Caspian" (which I actually have to start subdividing up into Peta/Caspian, Peter/Peta, and Peta), "Peter/Narnia", and "Narnia." My actual Narnia playlist is the only one that has anything instrumental on it, and it's mostly Celtic/folk/instrumental types -- what would be listened to in Narnia. *ponders*

Heh. Mine isn't long enough to subdivide yet- I've just put notes in the comment fields for songs in iTunes saying who, where and when. I have... one instrumental piece, which is for Narnia itself; one in Latin (a Gaudete, for Lucy/Narnia); one for the creation of Narnia which is half in English and half in an African dialect; the Handel coronation anthems for the four Pevensies; an acapella Danny Boy for reasons which make sense to me; an instrumental version of Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters', played by a cello quartet, for Eustace; and then my usual assortment of soft rock and barely-indie-pop. Oh, and one Guns N Roses.

Eventually I think I'll get to divide it along gender lines, with some duplication- one, essentially, for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader cycle with additional Peter-angst songs; and one for Heroes and Queens with bonus Digory songs.

*dies* We can put notes in the comment fields in iTunes? HOW? This could change my entire life, because then I can say things like, "Peta/Caspian post-Narnia with Peter looking in OMG TEH ANGST." Wait, do I have a song like that?

Yes, we can. Open 'get info' and in the 'info' tab there's a comment field, right down the bottom.

Changed my entire life, becuase I was thinking I was going to have to subdivide up my Peta/Caspian playlist and still be massively confused.

speaking of playlists: I put one up here. With accompanying download. Probably not your taste in muzac, but I still blame you for getting me into the playlist thing in the first place.
