bedlamsbardI figured it out! And it is glorious and messy and brilliant and tiny, a butterfly flapping its wings and Peter, Peter and hubris and fate and love, and Caspian doesn't have a thing to do with it except in all the ways that he does.
And I'm going to have to set up a metric fuckton of Dying Times history, and do so subtly, but oh my God. And it works thematically, too! Because when it comes to the Golden Age, we know the ending. We know how hard Narnia (and Peter, and Susan, and Edmund, and Lucy) falls. But we have to know where it falls from -- and how. And why.

"When the fall is all that's left, it matters."
