bedlamsbardI really am going to have to delete Solitaire off my computer, because while my usual, "Oh, I need to tune out for a minute," method would be either writing or knitting, it's fast becoming Solitaire, and then I keep playing it. Y'all have no idea how much writing time I've lost to Solitaire since I got the new computer. And it wouldn't be as much of a problem if I had something on the needles in circular, but I don't, and either I don't have the yarn with me or the needles. I've got cotton yarn for washclothes -- it's what I have on the needles right now, but, not being in the round, it's not as easy to just pick up and knit a few stitches, then go back to what I was doing before -- and linen yarn for a project, but I don't have the needles for said project. I didn't bring my Fair Isle Narnia bag, which is in the round, because I didn't have room for it in my suitcase. I need wool, or something similar. There's supposedly a yarn shop on Magazine St., and while I have time to go today (both my classes are in the morning), I don't really want to go by myself. Should have time tomorrow, though, and I may or may not have someone to go with. *frowns* Although I don't think any of my friends really care about yarn.
Spent about half an hour yesterday trying to find a bookstore, which is supposed to be on Maple St., but we couldn't find Maple St., and it was getting dark, and hello, two college freshman girls wandering around after dark in New Orleans? Not the best idea ever. After all, the vampires might get us! We are in Anne Rice's neighborhood, after all.
I also want food, but I'm not sure exactly what I want to keep in my room.
Ike looks like it's heading toward Texas, not towards us. Hurrah, because I really didn't want to go to Jackson State, and my parents aren't going to pay to fly me home again.
I really should write, but I'm feeling restless, and I don't have time to go walk Audubon Park like I was planning because when my roommate comes back from her class we're going to Rite Aid, and then I'm going to a class at the Reily Center with a friend, because goddamn it, I may have never done this sort of thing before, but it's free and she's asking for someone to go with, and therefore I should go, and it will be healthy, and then I will be sore and happy and then I can write. Well. I should probably do more reading for Theatre Arts, actually.
Then I want to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, because I somehow managed to miss the episode they streamed live online last night only to college students, and I want to see it. Did see the first ep of True Blood, though, and I am intrigued.
The problem with not having a TV is that at home I did a ton of writing sitting in front of the TV with my laptop on my lap. Now I'm watching TV on my laptop so that...doesn't really work out. I do knit, though, because I can't stand not doing something with my hands.
