...so today was Tulane's activities expo, and I think I joined the honorary band (coed) fraternity. Uh, there are dues. *facepalm* Although it's much cheaper than any of the other sororities or fraternities on campus, and I wasn't planning to rush anyway. (Where would I get the money?)

I may have also joined the women's club rugby team, or at least got on the mailing list. This will end badly!

(Yeah, I know I don't have to stay in any of the stuff I sign up for, but hey, signing up in the first place.)

Also Intensive Newcomb, or the women's studies society (sort of), which had its first meeting tonight, which was...a lot like watching some of the discussions in certain circles of LJ fandom, actually. (We watched the music video to Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and deconstructed it. AWESOME. No, seriously, I watch those circles of LJ fandom with fascination. It gets really interesting, because LJ fandom is really, really female-dominated.)

i was considering joining the scifi club here 'cos at their expo they had the dvds of popular fandoms on their table. maybe i would meet ppl with whom i could squee! but man, imagine what that would do to my productivity. and the only thing i ever seem to squee about these days is susan.

We have no sci-fi club. Alas. *is sad* Didn't see the Marijuana Appreciation Society, either, which is what my RA told us about.

I have yet to meet anyone in fandom. Six thousand undergrads and there must be someone...there were people in my teeny-tiny high school, there must be people at my moderately small university!

there were people at clark who were purportedly trying to get a chapter of NORML off the ground there, but nothing much ever came of it. i assume because they were all stoned. stoners trying to get together and Do Something is like anarchists trying to get together and Do Something: organization is not their strong point.

hey, on a note of little relation, i'm trying to find the ed/pete commenfic i committed somewhere on your journal where pete's poring over maps in his room and ed appears out of nowhere (from the secret tunnels) and pete brings out the wine but ed is gone again (what a showoff), and in the same comment was the post-battle one where minotaur blood tastes strange and someone wipes something's blood off the other's face. does this sound familiar to you? i didn't just hallucinate that, right?
