I am sure it was entirely platonic in nature, but OH MY GOD I HAD LUNCH AND AN ENTIRE CONVERSATION WITH A GUY.

Okay, back to Narnia now. Well, back to homework now, and then back to Narnia.

It was. He's in my Japanese class and we were both in Bruff Commons (the dining hall) at the same time, and he asked to sit with me. And so we did the usual college get to know you talk -- where are you from, how'd you end up at Tulane, what classes are you taking, where are you living. And we've both been to Europe, so we talked about that, and he's in NROTC and I was almost AFROTC, so we talked about that. Very platonic. But I still had a CONVERSATION WITH A BOY. (And he's a sophomore.)

An INTERESTING conversation with a boy at that. The ones with beer-swilling morons don't count, even if you do manage to converse with them.

The big secret of the universe is that boys are actually just human beings, despite all the efforts they go to to convince you otherwise.
Girls, on the other hand, the ones with the hair and the ridiculous high heels and so forth? I'm convinced they were spawned by aliens.

I actually get along fairly well with boys. I just don't get to know them very easily -- I am, like, the most shy person you will ever meet. I am PERFECTLY HAPPY being in the all-women's dorm.

I get along well with boys- well, except for the beer-swilling moron ones. Usually it helps that I'm blonde and bouncy and not very shy at all. Except when it comes to girls, whereupon I feel stupid and can't think of anything to say.

It took me three years in an all-women's dorm before I got to the point where I actually trusted any of my female friends. 'M glad I'm not in the co-ed dorms, but only because they're full of beer-swilling morons.

also: damn you, reminding me about Edwina. Now she's demanding to be written.
