bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (king edmund (astral_angel))

You know, the best thing about going through my class notes while doing this essay workshop -- where we don't actually write the essays, we just write what we would write the essays about -- is that I get to revisit all the random bits of fic written on the sides of my notes.

Some of it is porn.

Some of it is crack.

Some of it is cracked-out porn.

Some of it is perfectly legitimate fic.

Some of it is epic poetry.

I mean, I have my actual notes here reading stuff like
debt greater than assets - slavery, own self
hektemorage/hektemoroi (people mortgage land)
families owned large % of land and people

and then right next to it is
Peter dug his fingers into Edmund's hair and kissed him hard, their teeth knocking together messily.

"Did you let him kiss you?" Edmund asks once they've parted.

"No," Peter says.

"Good," Edmund says, and kisses him again, shoving him back towards the nearest bed. They tumble back onto it, Edmund settling himself between Peter's thighs and flicking open the buttons of his shirt.

*winces* And -- my back and hips really hurt, for some reason, and my stomach is making weird noises, and I still have two more essay outlines to do.

*snort* The best thing about that pic is everybody else is cracking up while William Moseley is all, "Whatever, dudes," and just keeps on smiling.

Also, is that Dani Reese from Life in your icon?

Dani Reese is my favorite female detective on TV right now, and I watch a lot of crime shows. (No, seriously, a lot.)

I think she's my favorite female character on TV, right now. Life seems to be miles ahead of other shows when it comes to writing women. ♥

What do I watch that isn't a crime show? (This is, uh, necessary for me to answer this question.) ...yep, Dani's my favorite female character on TV right now too. YAY LIFE. I mainlined the first season on Hulu a few weeks ago, and am now hooked. SO GOOD.

this is post Peter sleeping around with half of London, and Edmund being drunk and jealous and pissed off.

I really do have to drop all this random scribbling at some point, because some of it is highly amusing.

You're just taunting me, aren't you? I highly doubt anything will come of this promising beginning; but if it *does*, then FLIP THEM OVER AND PUT EDMUND WHERE HE BELONGS! *coughs*

I hope you're feeling better. *tiny voice*

*sweetly* Would you like the other two teeny-tiny bits of it? It's from the lecture on Sparta and Athens.
"You're drunk," Peter says, and Edmund laughs.

"Yeah, Pete," he says, "I'm drunk." He walks Peter back up against the door

and then I had to turn the page in my notebook, so we resume with
"You forget, big brother," Edmund says softly, "I know how you taste. I know the way you look when you come. I can smell him on you. Did you let him fuck you, or did you fuck him?"

And then there is some Peta/Caspian, and some Peta and Edwina, some Edmund wandering around the Natarene army camp, and some epic poetry. In this notebook.

Why, yes-I can see how a lecture on Sparta & Athens could produce the seeds of Peter/Edmund. *eyes you*

Are these snippets post-Narnia, back in England? It feels like that to me, if anything.

It seems to me that Peter is either HIGHLY promiscuous by nature; he's screwing around, trying to forget stuff; *or* he's trying to resist the incest, probably out of protective motives. But-I wonder how Peter would react if Edmund threatened to go out and get himself fucked by somebody else, since Peter doesn't want him...? Would it stir *him* to a display of possessiveness? And would Edmund perhaps point out that it's not fair to expect *him* to be celibate, while *Peter* cats around-that if Peter doesn't want him, there *are* others who do?

How would Peter like it if the ever-faithful, reassuringly-jealous Edmund decides he's had enough (or pretends he has) and goes out to pick up a man? (Somebody who looks like Caspian, heh, to rub salt in the wound! *is mean*)

*curious*

And what's Edmund doing in the Natarene army camp?!!

Edmund is actually technically in the Red Company camp, trying to figure out if he can buy off Captain Mathin so that the Red Company will break its contract. There's a pretty large portion of the Natarene army that's made up of mercenaries. Of course, given the fact that he's in the Red Company camp -- and we know who else is in the Red Company camp -- well, then. We get this (from the same class, different lecture)
"Majesty!" Kaikura exclaims, suddenly stopping dead. Chailya and Varangie were looking around too, and Hazhir rumbled a growl. "I know that scent."

Edmund glanced around. "What is it?" he asked quietly. They couldn't stay standing here forever, or go wandering through the Natarene camp. Their escort was already starting back towards Edmund, scowling.

"The High King," Kaikura whispered. "He's here."

"You're sure?" Edmund demanded, looking around frantically for a flash of golden hair, of his brother's face.

"Of course I'm sure," she snarled.

Wait. That bit was when he was legitimately in the Nat camp to treat with King Piero. This is the bit where he's sneaking around (from my Theatre Arts class, lectures on royal theatre and realism)
He goes over the border. Piero knows his face, or thinks he does, but Edmund's not interested in Piero or his courtiers. It's the Natarene merc companies he's interested in. Merc companies fight for money; he wants to know which of Piero's can be bought off.

(slight time jump)

There's a sharp moment of shock: that's my brother.

It's Peter like Edmund's never seen him before, golden-haired and laughing in a plain leather jack with the Red Company shield on the breast. There's a Natarene longsword slung over his shoulder. He's in the midst of a group of Red Company mercs, men and women that are scarred and armed. Edmund steps out of Mathin's tent without counscious thought and sees Peter's head turn toward him. There's no recognition on his face at all, just curiosity.

"King Edmund?" Mathin says from behind him. "Is something wrong?"

"The blond swordsman," Edmund says, not looking away from Peter until he's out of sight. "Who is he?"

Mathin's eyebrows go up. "We call him Breakneck," he says. "He joined the company a little over a year ago."

Yeah, post-Narnia and back in England. Maybe after Peter's come back from Burma, or before he's left -- sometime during the War, anyway. Spurred on by [livejournal.com profile] burntcopper's comments here (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/299983.html?thread=2082767#t2082767).

It is a screwed up situation. *waves hands* I can see Peter as trying to put a stop to anything that might have developed during Narnia, especially post-PC or VotDT, but I think Edmund's more set on remembering. (Peter doesn't have to remember.)
