be like water tease
Nov. 2nd, 2008 05:30 pmYes, I am probably doing one of these every day, because they are awesome.
“A woman’s ignorance?” Peta says, her voice utterly cold. “A woman’s ignorance, Prince Caspian?”
Caspian draws himself up to his full height and looks down at her. She tilts her chin up and meets his gaze calmly. “You are a woman,” he says, “and whatever the stories may say, women have no knowledge of the arts of war. Women’s natures are intrinsically gentle, and they are –”
Peta’s right hook takes him across the face.
“Peta!” Edmund exclaims, rising to his feet as Caspian takes a step backwards, hand coming up to touch his jaw, still bruised from their fight yesterday.
“Stand down, Ed,” Peta snaps, advancing on Caspian. “Stand down, King Edmund, that’s an order and a royal command.”
Caspian takes another step back, but not fast enough to avoid Peta’s punch. “Gentle, Prince Caspian?” she demands. “My sister is the one who bears that name, may the gods praise her, and you can see for yourself how gentle she is. I’m a warrior and a queen of Narnia; I’ve won and lost more battles than you’ve ever heard of. Go on and hit me, Prince, if you’ve the balls to claim what you just did after yesterday, where if I’m not mistaken I’m the one who blacked your eye and drew first blood of the day. I don’t want to have this gods-damned argument again, not after I spent fifteen years proving I was just as good as any man, and if you want me to prove it blade to blade, we can do that, but until you can beat me in the ring nine times out of ten this is my country and this is my command, and if you ever, ever question me because of my sex again, I swear on the Lion’s mane that it will be the last time. Do you understand?”
Caspian stares at her, shocked into silence.
Peta balls up her fist again. Her expression is set and cold, but there’s something wild in her eyes; Caspian thinks she might be on the edge of tears. “Do you understand?” she spits out again.

Date: 2008-11-03 12:22 am (UTC)Like Peter without the R, yeah. (Or like PETA, which amuses me.) She occasionally wears dresses, but most of the time she's in men's clothes.
