sorry for the ten million posts today, including the first politics ones of the year. no more. until the results from the -- oh, god, why do i look, gregoire is leading. NO THANK YOU PLEASE. i would like a governor who respects my county's opinion, if it's NOT TOO MUCH TROUBLE.

whoa. whoa, washington voted yes for legalizing assisted suicide. dude, i remember when we were talking about this in my ap junior english class. we are the second state in the country to do that! right after our crazy pal to the south, oregon.

dude, if this gubernatorial race plays out the same way it did last time, i am going to be pissed. it was messy last time, the campaigns have been brutal this time, and everyone's bet is that the race will be messy this time. (same two candidates, by the way.)

i have been following with high approval the glozelle-thingies on your LJ. movieverse!glozelle is KICKASS, and i keep on meaning to write the fic where he's frustrated at serving an arrogant douche, and also about how he deals with his new life on the south seas islands. (one time he tries talking to a finch and of course it doesn't answer, and he's relieved he first checked to make sure no one was around.)

I agree whole-heartedly. and something about how, like, as enchanting as Narnia is to the Pevensies, that's how enchanting this island is to Glozelle, all tropical heat and lush vegetation and how, here, he fears no apparitions or ghosts or fairy tales returned to take revenge. when birds open their beaks it is only birdsong. he appreciates the honest silence of the earth. what the pevensies find in narnia (tabula rasa, taking things into their own hands, letting go of the shackles of the past), glozelle finds on the island. or at least i like to think so. at least aslan isn't going to go "SURPRISE RETURN TO YOUR OWN WORLD especially when you have adjusted so well here!" on them. i mean, i hope he doesn't. who knows, with aslan.

And ya I also subscribe to Caspian kind of hero-worshipping Glozelle, totally.

And then the airplanes go zipping by overhead...dropping bombs...ships exploding off the shore...I subscribe to, "OH MY GOD YOU DROPPED THEM IN THE SOUTH SEAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PACIFIC WAR?" (this would, after all, be the main point of "in this hollow valley.")

Actually, that idea of dropping Glozelle and Prunaprismia off in the South Seas during the Pacific War fascinates me...image the culture shock! To end up in this tropical paradise, with all of the deeply satisfying good qualitied mentioned by lassiterfics, and then...INCOMING!

The Pacific theater doesn't get nearly as much attention as the European. I wonder if some people even *know* there was war there, as well! *disapproves*
