because she recognizes his type. the ones who disguise their fear as righteous anger when they see her and her kind. as for uther's kind, she likes to see their righteous anger, likes to see it change back into fear, and then into something else entirely.
she knows this game, and she fears nothing.

Date: 2008-11-10 08:47 pm (UTC)"we meet again, old friend," said the dragon, and the lion responded with a deferential nod of his head.
"i trust you are well," said aslan.
"as well as can be, in these conditions."
"one does what one can."
"always. how is your charge?"
"he is learning fast. the high king of narnia is strong in his faith. your magician?"
"perhaps not as faithful as your king."
"give him time. soon he will learn the fine line between choice and duty, and learn it well, for it is this fine line that harbors the threads of destiny."
there was a pause, and then a "...yes, exactly" from the dragon.
"it might also help," aslan added, "if you refrain from trying to bend his heart so."
"surely i don't know what you mean."
aslan only smiled, and it was a gentle and indulgent smile.
"surely," the dragon went on, "whatever it is you think i am doing is nothing quite like sending the wolves after your queen for the sole of purpose of giving your king a chance to rescue her."
"brother," said aslan in a benevolent sort of way, "you misread that situation."
"how difficult it is," declared the dragon, "to divine the hearts of gods, whose intentions are like the raindrops fallen to the sea, simultaneously vanishing and becoming something bigger than themselves."
"gods have no intentions," said aslan. "they only carry out the will of the deep magic."
"who, then, carries out the will of gods?"
and to this, the great lion was silent but the dragon did not begrudge him for it. they both knew the way of silence and circumvention, that sometimes the lack of an answer was the best answer of all to give.
"who knows," aslan eventually said, "the deep magic of will?"
the dragon nodded gravely. "who, indeed."

also, edmund/morgana? so, so DELICIOUS. *grabby hands* out of all the crossover pairings, i think they are my absolute favorite.
but then i think about susan/morgana and i just die. i've come to the decision that they are pretty much perfect for eachother. like, if i just go off of looks alone, they both have long dark hair and pale skin, full lips, big blue eyes. they're both gorgeous and known for thier beauty, and people underestimate them because of thier beauty but they turn out to be totally kick-ass. the more i think about it, the more i realize how similiar they are, or rather how similar they could be. i hope that makes sense.
anyway, i've come up with the perfect solution. edmund/susan/morgana. GUH. *sigh* i have thought about this way too much.
i am also very fond of merlin/lucy and am craving arthur/lucy.
basically, YOU GUYS ROCK MY WORLD, and i totally fangirl you.
