*flails wildly*

Trust me to write a scene that involves me Wikipedia-ing various types of hawks, eagles, and falcons in order to accurately write descriptions of hippogriffs. I am terrified of birds. (Although. Actually. To be honest, I am not as afraid of birds of prey as I am of, say, sparrows. GOD I KNOW I AM SO WEIRD.)
What, didn't y'all know that Narnia had hippogriffs? Of course Narnia has hippogriffs. I have no idea why I didn't think of this before. HIPPOGRIFFS. Oh my God. Totally just as cool as griffins. Maybe not as sexy.
I am so hyped up to be back at Dust, you have no idea. Water is cool, but whatever, Dust is where it's at. And there has barely been any Peter! I am happy like whoa. (Not because of the no Peter thing. Because I love all these characters. And this 'verse. And this entire friggin' story. This will probably fade quickly, but what the hell, must use it while it lasts. AND DUST OHMYGOD.)
Water is a sprint; I know where it's going and how quickly it's going to get there. (Well, it's PC. We all know what it's doing.) Even with three parts, it's still rather a sprint, because the main action gets over with fairly quickly, relatively speaking.
Dust, now -- Dust is a marathon. An awesome marathon. I know where it's going and roughly how quickly it's going to get there. (Read: not quickly. MARATHON. Dust is the Greco-Persian Wars of Narnia, kids! Complete with a Thermopylae and a Salamis. A Marathon and a Plataea, too. But what am I saying, we're not there yet.) And Dust is -- oh my god. *flails wildly* I forgot how much I loved this story! Oh my god! It is just so...well. I don't want to say epic, but, well. It is. It is not crack.
Also, it just hit 30K.
*flails some more*

Date: 2008-11-18 01:21 pm (UTC)mind you, I did do a quick bit of creatures research - apparently in the greek era, satyrs and fauns were completely different - Satyrs were middle-aged, perpetually horny and had human feet, fauns had goats feet and less of a sex drive) it's only the romans who started confusing the issue. So weta were *right* in making them different, even if they made satyrs completely different to the greek definition.
still trying to figure out where the 'so, er, we've heard rumours your brother's into bestiality' conversation should go. corner of court? (ie, relatively public) or in private? Er....
