See, I'd love to tell you I was posting Omerta 26, and it looks like this chapter's actually going to go over three thousand words - yes, this is scaring me too, Val likes to talk, what can I say - and have I mentioned recently that Stella really, really hates Val, although for no particular reason. Except - I think she might hate him more than she did before because of her father. I mean, at this point in time she's figured out that Mordecai and Michael Giovinazzo (mentioned in NYM as Pierazzo; my continuity guide sucks) work for Val, and thus that her father's being sucked in one way or another. I don't think she's thinking that consciously, but it's definitely bouncing around in her unconscious.

I am rambling a little - or a lot - on Family history, mainly because it gives me a better grip on the world, but also because Val doesn't know how much Mac and Stella know how about the Mafia, so he feels he has to explain everything. And what they do know, they know from an outsider's point of view, not from an insider's. And Val - Commission Family or not - is very much an insider. There are mentions of places where he drops some bit of information where Mac perks up, because it's something that isn't known to law enforcement, or it's something the Organized Crime Division has been trying to find out and failing. Like *checks draft* the Boston family, the Dell'ferrare. They're a new family, which has been mentioned before; I think it's also been mentioned that Jimmy Dell'ferrare is very young and very smart. But law enforcement doesn't know this, at least not till now. Or things like Family politics, such as the fact that there is literally no one left alive with Lancione blood, because the current Lancione boss (Manny Caprio, in jail) killed them all off, even the ones in other Families, just so he'd be the only candidate for boss, and because of that reason most of the other Families really hate the Lancione (which aren't, anymore, except in name).

Veering away from Omerta for a bit, I woke up this morning with Mac/Stella on my brain. No, I'm completely and utterly serious, I woke up with the image of Stella going to sleep (or possibly waking up, I'm not sure) on Mac's chest. And, knowing me, I spent the next hour lying in bed trying to figure out exactly how she got there. And...well...I figured it out.

The only question is, since it takes place during Bloody Friday and contains Huge Freaking Spoilers, do you guys want to see it?

Also, this is exactly what I'm talking about when I go on about the Big Long Stories that go counter to canon, but only because canon goes quicker than they do.

Yes!

Um. Even though I still need to reply to Omerta 25? Please?

because I've kinda been obsessing over Mac/Stella since I wrote that '97 piece last week, just a little bit.

And later, if I can find my brain, thoughts on Big Long Stories that have been Jossed.

Well, it's not Mac/Stella yet, but it managed to depress me when I was writing it. Like, a lot.

See, there's a reason the story's called Bloody Friday. (Although according to my notes it's supposed to be Bloody Sunday, so I have no idea what I've been calling it on here.)
