Okay, about an hour and a half before PC arrived and I lost all coherency, I was going through LWW capping certain things. For reference. Obviously. PC comps from caps online.

cair paravel

Cair Paravel. Hmm. I always think it's more of a castle-castle, but not really. But god, those white walls on those green hills kills me every time. Comparison to a cap from PC -- boy, that's not depressing at all.

centaur honor guard

The centaur honor guard really is traditional. Oh my God. I want fic or historical errata or something about how they fought to preserve that right -- I mean, it's like the bears always being marshals, but the centaurs are just a little more impressive, I'm sorry.

coronation peter

Okay. This is -- not just a moment of shallow. This is where the recurring scars thing in Dust came from, this and this from PC. For some reason, I was absolutely convinced that Peter had gotten cut in PC in the exact same place he had in LWW, and he didn't. I completely made that up. Damn it.

On the other hand, note that this is the coronation and he still has the mark! Means the coronation was really soon after the battle.

the last hunt

This I did not make up. This was completely supported by the film -- how summer in Narnia ends when the Pevensies do. That is friggin' autumn, guys. I ROCK.

eastern seaboard

Here we go with the geography. Eastern seaboard of Narnia, bonus army, bonus Peter and Aslan. Anyway, here is a picture from PC, and -- heh -- the eastern seaboard has changed rather a lot.

You know what this makes me think of? Naval tactics. Oh my God, they are going to reenact the battle of Salamis. (I am not kidding about the Narnian-Calormene Wars in Dust pretty much being the Greco-Persian Wars, by the way. I have a Thermopylae. I have a Marathon. I have a Plataea. And now I think I genuinely have an actual friggin' Salamis, thanks to PC.)

shore of cair paravel (w/ lucy)

Shore of Cair Paravel, with Lucy. But hey, here's something interesting: look at this cap and this cap (the second one actually gives a pretty decent view of the islands/mainland). Deliberate mirroring, maybe? How many different islands broke off of the mainland, because there weren't any in LWW. Unless -- *squints at cap* There might be one there in the distance. But the geography's so different!

That is one thing I'm sure Adamson didn't think through, whether or not the geography's consistent between movies.

Okay, off to go look at pictures of castles and possibly eat something at some point. And stroke PC's case with admiring fingers.

Hmm, while I'm here, what do y'all think of this as a baseline for New Cair Paravel? Or the second one down here? Oh, man, these are gorgeous. Here, second one down. Huh. Maybe elements of the city walls, but --

Anyway, I'm not looking for any one castle in particular, just browsing. Thoughts?

Hmm. Not to dispute your awesomeness, because yes, you ARE awesome *G* - but at the end of LWW when they go back to England, aren't they hunting the white stag? You don't hunt in summer, because the animals are raising young. Hunting season is autumn...

I think my point is that while I whole-heartedly approve of the metaphorical passing of the seasons, and support corresponding large-scale climate alterations along the lines of George RR Martin's summer/winter, you may be reading too much into it being autumn when they leave Narnia. *G*

But they're not hunting hunting, they're just going after it because if you catch it, you get wishes...

And the seasons thing isn't new; I went into it a while back here (http://bedlamsbard.livejournal.com/301035.html). I was more coherent somewhere else, but I don't actually remember where that comment is... *frowns*

I did have a faint "but killing animals?" thought, but I am currently grievously undercaffinated and reading KJ Parker's Engineer trilogy, which is heavy on the hunting. So brain didn't quite follow through. *G*

(Get wishes? Like what? "I wish I was King of the world! ...oh wait.")

I love the largescale metaphorical seasons. I love 'em when Martin does 'em, and I love 'em when you do 'em. *G*

*beams* I am kind of in love with the seasons in Narnia, I have to admit, because you just feel them in the books. I mean, you don't feel much else, but the seasons -- that's there.

And I was forced to screw around with that in Dust because I couldn't drop that point.

all of the pc caps to compare with are 'forbidden' for me. help?

huh. i was almost positive that peter got the cut in the same exact place as well. it turns out it's actually caspian (http://benbarnesfan.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=2754&fullsize=1) who gets the eyebrow cut. hmm. this one (http://benbarnesfan.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=2755&fullsize=1) makes it seem like it's one continious cut, but this one (http://williammoseleygallery.simplehostingfast.com/displayimage.php?pid=4674&fullsize=1) suggests otherwise. i also can not stop staring at edmunds face in these, like, out of all of them, i like his cut the best. that's probubly wierd, huh? anyway, where was i? oh, yeah. it could also be noted that susan has a scar (http://gallery.apopplewell.org/thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=0) in the exact same spot (http://benbarnesfan.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=2754&fullsize=1) on her cheekbone as peter (http://williamgallery.org/displayimage.php?pid=2154&fullsize=1). this is not really signifigant at all, but it is interesting and, meh, they are pretty.

hmmm, castles. i am particularly fond of second one, the second one down. did you look here (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://bp2.blogger.com/_e-mPA_6ZQyg/RfpXy5cD6JI/AAAAAAAAArE/LDQ2ZkJSepI/s400/0_engraving_-_one_1_080_edinburgh_castle_from_the_kings_mews.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.peaceinspire.com/castles/medieval-castles/castle-paintings/&usg=__pXXWyoat7GzCk1pZcNjdwu-t_4A=&h=400&w=374&sz=58&hl=en&start=36&sig2=5Ah0DxZ2CoJtJHf7_dCEjg&tbnid=DHf4s3-TWurQvM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=116&ei=_5k0SbnBCYuksAOgtO2GBg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcastle%2Bpaintings%26start%3D18%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN) maybe? the sixth one down? i looked for castles but i kept on getting distracted by all the pretty. *try's to be helpful but fails*

Try it now. I changed the links.

...how are all these people so ridiculously pretty?

I am inordinately pissed with canon for denying me my pseudo-canonical recurring scars. *pouts*

The second second one down seems to be popular.

they are so beautiful, it is, like, sickening. grrr. it amazes me that they just picked out these four adorable kids and then they somehow turned into these incredibly attractive people (i mean, anna and will, were already really attractive, but still. they all grew up so gorgeous, it's amazing)

That is one thing I'm sure Adamson didn't think through, whether or not the geography's consistent between movies.

we do have to remeber here, that it is 1300 years later. the landscape is bound to change, like alot. even lewis said so (but you know, it's lewis) and it is relatively consistant considering it is 1300 years later. *shrug*

This is true. I'm just trying to figure out if it's really likely geologically speaking -- but what the hell do I know, I'm English/history. I do have an earth and environmental sciences class next semester! but it's not geology.

Watch, I'm going to end up taking a geology class just for this.

teehee. that would be hilarious.

also, about the mirroring in the last cap: i am almost positive that it is deliberate. that is so something that andrew would do.

and now for something random: is it just me or does this (http://www.spareoom.net/gallery/?level=picture&id=4766) picture of lucy, look incredibly similar to this (http://poifect.com/annapics/displayimage.php?pid=1125&fullsize=1) picture of susan? i mean, it's probubly just the angle, and i'm sure it was compleatly unintentional, but for some reason, i got irrationably happy when i made the connection. oh, pevensies.

WHY YOU WANT TO LEAVE US ADAMSON.

*cough* just had to get that out of my system.

It is not just you, but it is probably not deliberate. OH PEVENSIES.

i know. it makes me so incredibly sad that will and anna aren't going to be there that i often forget how sad it is that andrew is leaving us too. and as sad as it makes me, it also makes me really nervous, because, that means were getting someone brand new, and hope, i HOPE, that apted does a good job.

but everytime i think about apted on set i LOL so hard because i'm positive that skandar, georgie and ben are going to drive him crazy with thier shenanigins and he's never going to want to direct another movie again. XD

HOMG REALLLLYYYY?! THAT IS TEN KINDS OF AWESOME. I WANT TO SEE SALAMIS. SERIOUSLY. ....I'm wondering who wins, though I'm thinking the Narnians becasue the Calormenes are kinda a la Persians. XD

Oh, and I like the first link that says second one down. Hahah, I like how it's more classical Medieval castle (a.k.a. Telmarine-esque), and then there's the building upwards on a hill sorta, like the original Cair Paravel.

I was going to have a naval battle anyway (I am trying not to drop too many details here, but unfortunately it's not as awesomely magically diverse as the Masongnong-Narnia battle in "In a Dry Month" and "The White City"), but the geography of the islands means that...

wait. Theoretically, I could have two naval battles to mirror the two major land battles.

Wait, Bedlam, there's such a thing as overkill! You can in fact have too many battles!

I feel that the architecture of New Cair Paravel is going to be kind of interesting, because it's this weird mish-mash of Narnian and Telmarine -- I mean, Caspian's trying to build off the pictures he's seen of Old Cair Paravel, but there's an incredibly heavy Telmarine influence.
