Yes! The Pevensie snark has returned! I was starting to fear we'd never see it again. I mean, there's not much of it, but there it is!

Calormene wanted posters.

"Don't feel too bad, five hundred crescents is enough for a young warhorse."
"Is that good?"
"Have you ever tried to buy a Calormene warhorse for less than four hundred crescents?"
"Have you?"
"Oh, yeah. Not easy. You have to be a very smooth talker. I've never managed it."

I HAVE EXCHANGE RATES IN THAT SAME PARAGRAPH. i mean, i cut off the quotage before we got there, but the next thing peter says is about the exchange rate between narnian suns and calormene crescents.

and peter is posing as a rare coins dealer. using the enormous amounts of narnian and foreign currency stored in the arn abedin treasury. I FELT SO SMART WHEN I CAME UP WITH THAT.

the crescents are canon; narnian coinage is ALL MINE.

except. i only have three types of coins: stars, moons, suns. AND I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE FOUR. except i ran out of meteorolgical references. *sigh* and neither "comet" or "planet" or particularly, you know, romantic.

Remember, in VOTDT they, when they find the lord who was turned into the golden statue, they find coins with his clothes.
*Their search revealed, one by one, a helmet, a dagger, and a few coins; not Calormen crescents but genuine Narnian "Lions" and "Trees".*

So, if you decide to add them, you would have five kinds of coins.

*blinks* Well, that makes no logical sense. That's a Telmarine lord; there's no reason that the Telmarines would be using Narnian money, especially thirteen hundred years later. Especially when the Telmarines had their horrible fear of...lions and trees. Hardly the sort of thing one puts on their money! I can see it post-Caspian, but not pre-Caspian.

In Telmarine Narnia -- he would not. But they visited the islands on the way. He bought something there, and so got the old money. Or maybe he was interested, and bought some coins as curiosities.

Perhaps money from the islands, then; just because Caspian assumes they're using crescents doesn't necessarily mean they are.
