In a moment of epic OHMYGOD:

The Ocean's 11 AU [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics and I have been commentficcing, which has now just turned into an occasional O11 crossover with the Susan/Tess and Edmund/Rusty, and stars our darling Pevensies as a family of incestuous con artists, now has plot, backstory (going back to their teens before they ran away! back when Peter was a juvenile delinquent, Susan wasn't, Edmund was kind of a nerd and on the cross-country team, and Lucy was a cheerleader), sex, the Mafia, Narnians from every corner of the Narnia-globe, and, uh...

An incredible amount of wordcount. Like, a seriously incredible amount. Like, 30K worth of incredible.

Also, this wordle pretty much sums it up:

WHAT DO YOU RECKON?! i reckon OKAY in all-caps is kinda funny.

with the wordcount, this thing is more than halfway through a nano project.

IT WOULD BE fl;'sajl IF TIRIAN SHOWED UP SOMETIME

(...i am beginning to consider getting a lucy icon, just for this thread. OH THREAD.)

i must figure out how to write cor some more, i think his flashes of vaguely self-righteous stick-in-the-mudding would be interesting. maybe edmund should go chill with him and aravis.

you should write backstory about their thing in new orleans!

Are you guys ever going to compile all the comments? It would make a properly epic fic.

Chances are pretty high on "no", because we're all over the place on timeline. I mean, I think we could do it if we put our heads together -- we tend to tie stuff back pretty well -- but neither of us has the time or the inclination.

Well, I'd like to volunteer. I'm a journalist and student editor so I've got experience organizing other people's writing without altering the content. And, of course, you can take a look at my fanfic on my journal if you want to judge my writing skill, though I'm not proposing to actually add any writing to your commentfic.

DUDE, really?! that would be awesomecakes! oh man, we are so chuffed that you are offering. :D like, how would you do it? on a word file? on an LJ post of ongoing edits?

I was originally going to separate out the comments into different categories (present, past, missing scenes, etc.) and then work on integrating them back into one story. A lot of copy/pasting from different word files into other word files.

I like the LJ post idea, though. I'd flock it just for you guys. That way you can comment on it and let me know what you think, until you deem it ready to be published.

Also, for ideas on stealing the Hope Diamond, I recommend this South Park episode. (http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/1212) It's available for free online viewing. It's also hilarious, if you paid attention to the American elections at all.

interesting, cool cool. okay, we'll leave it up to you however you want to organize it. yay!

god knows what this fic will have wrought in the end though (IF THERE IS AN END), 'cos it's not really a fic, more like a universe we play around in.

although we do tend to tie back to the main storyline fairly often, in theme and tone if not in actual, you know, relevance. i think. actually, i'm not sure we have a theme. i think we have the seeds of one, but i'm not sure it's really come out all that clearly yet. i could see how we could integrate everything into an actual novel.

we need a title, or at least a name for the 'verse.

Okay, here's the timeline I've worked out. It's almost identical to the timeline you posted in the original thread, but there are a few tweaks.

http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/24002.html

Also, you guys dropped Lucy's Cockney accent rather abruptly. It's not obvious just reading the thread, but when you read the frontstory (minus all backstory) it jumps out.

And here's the frontstory, minus 99% of the backstory (I've compiled the backstory too, but it's in a few pieces):
chapter 1 (http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/24141.html)
chapter 2 (http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/24423.html)
chapter 3 (http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/24706.html)
chapter 4 (http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/24934.html)
chapter 5 (http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/25177.html)

YOU ARE AWESOME
oh man, thank you so much! yeah, lucy's cockney started out as a joke, way back before we knew this AU was to take a LIFE OF ITS OWN. so, i dunno what we gonna do about that. probably just leave it for now.

in chapter 4, there is a line break missing between corin, pete, and ed arriving at the beach house and caspian and susan and lucy in new york.

bedlam, things i noticed to consider:
-- edmund says, "oh, but miraz is nowhere in sight. he's late, and he's left you all alone. now that's hardly the act of a gentleman, is it?"
"because you and peter never did the same thing," susan replies archly.

WHAT CAN SUSAN POSSIBLY MEAN??
-- i wonder if the edmund/rusty in san francisco takes place at the same job as the peter/lucy in san francisco.

when did we have peter/lucy in san fran? (see, i...have no memory.)

huh, one also notes that we should probably reference lucy as an explosives expert at some point, because that's introduced but never followed up. and i like it.

possibly she learned it from oz, the ex-navy seal.

She started with Oz and found she had a knack for it, then later refined it with Basher in London.

I think Peter/Lucy in San Fran was the last time Peter got high (before the most recent time in the Philippines).

lucy and oz hanging out, i can see it. she's the only one that isn't all :-/ at him.

ya, what lazaefair said. peter/lucy in san fran happened in a flashback when peter was in the philippines getting stoned. lucy made peter roll a joint for her, then he was like, "ah fuck it i'll smoke too".

how tempted am i to have susan run into arthur again. where she taps him on the shoulder and says, "hey, pete, we've got--"

but then he turns around and it is NOT PETER. WINK.

oz is probably also where peter refined his fighting technique. who better to learn how to kill a man with your bare hands than from a navy seal?

I HIGHLY APPROVE OF THIS NOTION.

I'd be interested in seeing other people in the Narnia 'verse introduced or fleshed out. The original crew in Vegas is barely touched upon, besides Caspian. Reepicheep as the grease man is hilarious, and the Beavers are also hilarious as the arguing Jethros.

OMG the Reep and Tumnus segments are AWESOME. Thank you so much!

I'm working on two big chunks of backstory that I'll post shortly. They cover the Pevensies fleeing Finchley, up to the dive job in Miami with Oz. Obviously you two are in the middle of writing more to flesh out that period, but with the timeline solidifying, it's getting easier to add your segments to the right places.

Also, for clarification:
Was Colby Granger the one who arrested Peter and got him thrown in jail the first time? Or did that happen later? The bit where Peter reveals that he's on good terms with Granger and they just have to not get caught in LA implies that Granger let him go.

As for Susan/Arthur, that probably happens sometime later, after the NY Mafia issue has been settled. I don't see Susan going off so easily with a former fling to hang out while her family's in so much danger, or while they're busy trying to rob the Smithsonian.

Nah, my guess is that Peter got caught in the midwest somewhere, and Colby's out of LA (from Numb3rs, because this is Lass&Bedlam. We like to rip off other people's canon! Case in point: the jail Peter was in, Fox River Penitentiary, is the jail in the first season of Prison Break. Because I am a dork, apparently).

The Galma storyline is one of the longest sustained bits of backstory, so I put it together in its own "chapter". I had to do a wee bit of rearranging, and there was a major tense change during the Susan/Edmund that I went ahead and corrected.

Here it is: The Greg Flaherty Saga, Being A Tale Of One Night and One Day Before Everything Goes to Shit

http://lazaefair.livejournal.com/25780.html

I went back over some of the early postings about the Pevensies fleeing Finchley and there isn't further mention of Edmund's broken wrist. It's not a terribly obvious inconsistency, but it's there.

Because the Falcone mess doesn't take place right after the Flaherty mess. There's at least a two week span between the two -- there's a scene somewhere where Edmund comes in early from cross-country practice sometime after the Flaherty fight and finds Peter and Susan, and I think there's a "two weeks later" note on that.

Oh, that's when it happens? I couldn't figure out where that segment happened and filed it in the odds and ends category.

Okay, I've fixed the timeline for that.

Also, I figure that Susan discovering Peter's gun probably takes place after the Edmund walking in on Peter and her segment and very shortly before the night of the heist itself. Peter's hesitation and promise to get rid of the gun seem to me like, he knows he needs the gun for the Falcone heist, but he can't deny Susan, so he decides to himself that he'll use the gun that one time, then get rid of it after that.

To be very fair (and this is nowhere in the text itself, just my head) the gun wasn't for the heist, but that hasn't come up at all yet.

Although. I should probably actually write that scene at some point.
