Oh my God, I just got the most gorgeous and heartbreaking idea for a pre-VotDT ficlet ever. I blame this on the fact I'm listening to Heather Alexander's album Arms of the Sea, although I'm about to switch to Celtic Woman in a moment to go back to Dust.

Oh, gosh, beautiful and gorgeous and heartbreaking and creepy. CREEPY LIKE WHOA.

Remnants of a vanished era...

(I mean, I could probably work this into Dust rather than a Caspian-era ficlet, but we'll see.)

I am on like this Voyage high right now so I am really happy about this. I don't what it is, but I am happy nonetheless. :D

It is when the Dawn Treader is just off the nameless isle, passing the ruins -- and then they look down, and through the shockingly clear water they can see the remains of the Shifting Market, preserved as perfectly as if it was set in glass and not water, as if it hasn't been thirteen hundred years since the White City burned. Ships and flags and city, all lost, lost beneath the sea...

ISN'T IT JUST? It's just the kind of almost absurdity you'd find in Narnia. (Okay, not Lewis's Narnia, in Lewis's Narnia it would be, like, rotted timbers at most. But in my Narnia.)
