You know, I was a little upset about never getting off-campus and not walking anywhere, and then Mardi Gras season hit. OH MY LEGS. Walking from campus down to the uptown parade route, and so far we have only gone to TWO parades, Pygmalion and Ponchartrain. It is, like, a three-mile walk or so from campus, though -- and back. So really, that's a lot of walking.
Yesterday, the highlight of the evening was getting hit in the head with a cup, then the guy behind me (who caught it) handing it to me and saying, "You deserve this." Today, the highlight of the afternoon was seeing the UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS OH MY GOD.
Also, I have come to the conclusion, after watching a lot of high school marching bands and a couple of college ones (and the NAVAL ACADEMY DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS), that while the majority of these marching bands are flashier (bigger, better-funded, actual uniforms, they do the whole dancing while marching thing), my high school marching had better discipline than any of the bands I saw (including Tulane), except for the NAVAL ACADEMY DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS and possibly this all-girls Catholic school. (Which was adorable! Really.)
But today I did not get hit in the head by anything (althought I do have beads!). PLUS.
I still have to work on my papers, though.

Date: 2009-02-15 02:23 am (UTC)The whole flashing people for beads thing? Such a lie. All you have to do is hold your hands up and yell and they throw you beads. (And other stuff. Cups, frisbees, coins, stuffed animals...)

Date: 2009-02-15 03:06 am (UTC)You've probably got every knowledgeable person on campus telling you to go to a night parade already but sometime in the next 4 years, DO. Twinkle lights and fire and tinsel and AWESOME:)

Date: 2009-02-15 05:32 am (UTC)My camera and computer are no longer on speaking terms, so I have no really recent pictures, but here (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b176/bedlamsbard/my%20pictures/PICT0301.jpg) (except I no longer have braces and will most likely be in contacts, not glasses) and here (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b176/bedlamsbard/my%20pictures/PICT0278.jpg) (that is my senior prom picture. I am the brunette). To prove that I am a real person. *grin*
