So tell me, were "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Gimme Some Lovin'" meant to be played by a high school pep band?

... rhetorical question? I'm sorry. *hug* No, no they were not.

"You Give Love" isn't half-bad played by a band, actually. It sounds pretty cool - but the bari part on "Gimme Some Lovin'" is the most boring thing ever, and that's saying something, once you look at the bass line for "The Hey Song."

Well, "You Give Love" kind of, uh, has a distinct melody. I'm guessing that-- and I really would have no clue-- that songs with really strong melodies, ones that won't get devoured by lots of instruments, work better.

"Gimme Some Lovin", isn't that the one with the weird bass-beat-thingy at the beginning? Kinda... repetetive. *blink*.

"The Hey Song". I don't want to know.

I think so (and actually, I have no clue either, so we can be clueless together).

Uh-huh. And it's not just the beginning, either - I have that bass line through the whole - friggin' - song. *headdesk*

Apparently, when the artists that recorded it came in to do so, they were so drunk they forgot all the words, so all that came out was "HEY!"

... ... Oh! That song? That's what it's called?

Fuck, I'd always wondered if it had lyrics. Guess not.

Uh-huh. No lyrics. We added a pro-Ellensburg part in, though, that we have to sing. Unless that's Land of A Grand. I don't actually remember. Could be both. Man, and it's raining, and we're supposed to play. We could not have to play!

Indeed it does. I got to band and the first thing I hear is the student teacher yelling, "You can all go home!" I turn around and my mother has already driven away. I call her cell. It's off. I call home. Twice. Nobody answers. I finally call my dad and tell him to tell Mom to turn around and come back as soon as she gets home. I hang out in the band room for half an hour as people flurry in, realize they don't have to stay, and realize that their parents have just left.
