it's one of those days
Nov. 6th, 2009 05:02 pmMy NaNo has plateaued, partially because my eyeballs were going to explode if I spent any longer looking at my computer screen. I could not actually look at a computer screen for most of today without wincing. Which is not really conducive to writing. I did, on the other hand, get a fair amount of knitting done. US 1 (2.25 mm) needles are tiny.
Also, you know what always surprises me? That when you take painkillers, they get rid of cramps. (There is a point about six hours in when my brain kicks in and goes, "You know what? Enough of this nonsense." Also, ibuprofen kicks in sooner than aspirin. Mmm, ibuprofen.)
In other news, I had forgotten that we got the History Channel. Yay, History Channel! Usually the default in our room is the Food Network, but the only late-night stuff I like is Alton Brown and Iron Chef America and occasionally whatever decides it will be on. (Ace of Cakes is not on that list, nor is Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, nor is Unwrapped.)
Also, I am kind of distressed that no one else in my Arab-Israeli Conflict class knows that the draft never actually ended post-WWII; it was the same bloody draft going on through Korea and Vietnam. Granted, I probably should have said this in class, but I didn't think it was actually relevant.
You know what distresses me most? Guess what I got in the mail today, while seeing if a package card for the Bob Chasing Yarn Tote Bag I'd ordered from Ravelry had come in. No, go on, guess.
My fucking ballot. The state of Washington did not deign to tell me that they were sending my ballot to New Orleans; I thought they were sending it to my home address in Ellensburg, but no, no, they sent it to New Orleans. And I have not actually checked my mail since before Tuesday, so to hell with that.
...my eyes just started aching again. What the hell?
