Dec. 12th, 2009 06:44 pmHave just gotten back from the Quarter. Streets so flooded there was a tide. Streetcar stopped running on Napoleon; walked last couple miles back to campus. Had to pour water out of my boots. Clothes in drier. Roommate fabulous, made hot chocolate; the purchased Christmas presents are safe.
ETA: Does it make it better or worse to say that neither of us had an umbrella? Really, at that point it would have just been an extra weight to carry anyway. Also, the plastic strip card-holder thing in my wallet broke -- this is where I keep my driver's license, by the way, and I nearly lost my license in the wild streets of the CBD. But I held onto it! Also, they have moved on from state quarters onto the territories. American Samoa is now in my proud possession, sharing space with Alaska while I wait to get them home to my quarter collection.
